Letv is now LeEco (plus new logo)

The new name is as misleading as the old one. I would guess it’s some environment protection company by the name. Plus the new logo is horrible, the old one was really classy.

Eco is from ecosystem and it just defines the entire thing. Likely what we’ll see as branding is the LE followed by the subdivision ( LETV, LEPhone and so on). Their site in english http://www.leeco.com/en/index.html

I think this is a good decision overall. Letv would always have been a Chinese content provider company, but LeEco can be marketed as a global umbrella brand.

Now this is how you fuck up a brand! Bravo, you had an easy to pronounce name in any language, a nice looking simple but elegant logo, now you have a shitty hard to say name and a boringly minimal but irritatingly colored logo that could only be worse if it used Comic Sans for the font.

To be honest I love their current phones but I wouldn’t buy one that has this crappy new name and logo on it. Now when the market is flooded with good affordable phones, it really comes down to such details. Their phone designs were the best in my opinion but this new branding will ruin it.

Ugh… it’s irrelevant. As I was reading some of the posted comments, I started thinking, “WTF!” Who really cares about the name. The old brand was fine, the new one is fine too.

What I can’t see why the would change just as they started getting traction and brand awareness. And why they would do so immediately AFTER they just made a big push at CES with the old branding.
