Elephone’s march overseas takes another step today with the company releasing their budget Elephone S1 in 3 new markets.
The Elephone S1 might have snuck under your radar, so for those of you not familiar with the phone here are the main hardware points.
Build-wise the S1 boasts glass panels front and rear with a one touch fingerprint scanner on the rear, and narrow bezels up front. The panel itself is a 5-inch HD 1280 x 720 model with Corning Gorilla Glass.
There is no LTE support on the phone as it runs the entry-level Mediatek MT6580, but for anyone wanting a smart looking phone at a good price, and can live with 3G it might be worth a look.
Elephone have teamed up with distributors in Poland, Malaysia and Iraq where the S1 is on sale now for just $100. At this point we don’t know if Elephone have plans to launch the phone elsewhere, but we will let you know once we find out.

The”6580 is a terrible SoC for 2016. Better phones in this price range most with LTE.
I’m pretty sure taxes have something to do as well as in the other 2 countries mentioned.
I think its more of Elephone being cheap. Import taxes are no excuse for horrible hardware, it’s something every company which does business there must deal with.
