Cube are another Chinese tablet maker who have chosen 2016 as the year they scale up and build their own Surface rival. See the Cube i9.
Unveiled yesterday, the Cube i9 looks very similar to the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, even down to the integrated stand on the rear and keyboard/dock.
Like the iPad Pro and Chuwi Hi12, Cube have gone big with the Cube i9 giving the tablet a large 12.2-inch display. Resolution (1920 x 1200) is less than the other two tablets though, but this should help with overall performance.
Gizchina News of the week
Intel deliver the processing goods and the Cube i9 uses a 6th generation Intel Skylake processor, with 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. If you need more space there is also room for a micro SD card.
As Cube intend the i9 to be used in a product manner the tablet also has a suite of ports including a full size USB 3.0 and even a Type C 3.1 port.
The Cube i9 is priced at 2999 Yuan in China, making it around $200 more expensive than the Chuwi Hi12. No confirmed release date yet, but full details can be found on the official Cube website here.
It does look good. I hope it comes with built in 3G at least. Need that in every tablet I’ll use.
Why don’t you use your phone’s connection in ad-hoc mode? Isn’t that preferable than having modem services continuously depleting part of your tablet’s battery as well? I mean you already have a device that connects to the net anyway why not use it while you’re at it?
Such a shame that the Chinese seem to have lost interest in android tablets as I’m sure this will be a windows only tab. Impossible to get a 11-12″ android tablet with keyboard and metal construction. I have a desktop and laptop for windows and don’t want it on my tablet too (my Teclast X16 power is dual boot and I’ve never used windows on it at all).
What’s the Teclast X16 Power like Rob? I had considered it once but then I decided to wait and see what the start of 2016 brings
Its OK but I’m returning mine in the next week as it has lots of faults. My biggest disappointment is the screen as it’s quite poor and not very responsive, the Intel chipset is not compatible with a lot of stuff in the play store but most can be installed using the apk through the browser. I’m hoping for a good android tablet to come out in the next few months as Windows is a waste of time. My seller declared a higher value than what I paid but luckily UK customs didn’t charge me. The keyboard dock tends to disconnect from the tablet when you close it as the angle doesn’t seem right, however the over all build quality is good.
Since Skylake is X86 you should be able to install Remix OS for your Android needs or even a full Linux distro like Ubuntu
Well no one has managed it on tablets like the x2 even though some of these tablets are advertised as dual boot all they actually use is an android emulator.
im just waiting for my cube I10(10.6 inch) with remix os, im pretty intrigued by remix os ive seen some great videos, i couldnt find a good chinese android tablet so i ll go with the cube and remix os wich is basicaly android
I toyed with getting that myself but really want a higher resolution screen and better processor than the outdated Bay trail. Hopefully they will update it soon.

this is like twice the price of the expensive MiPad 2 — it has probably a significantly better processor (even the M series perform nearly on par with an Exynos 7420), and twice the ram and storage — but you get a worse screen… lets put it this way, you’re not getting an even better deal than the one from Xiaomi
i would buy the MiPad on impulse…
God Willing will prolly order the MiPad 3 or MiPad 4 when they arrive in the market !
