With all the excitement of other phone launches last week we managed to miss the launch of the new Coolpad Max in China, so here they are better late than never.
As usual, last week was an exciting week for fans of Chinese smartphones, but one device that managed to fly undetected (by us at least) was a new phone from Coolpad.
Specifications look suited to a mid-range device, although pricing is more like a flagship at 2499 Yuan. The metal bodied phone has a rear fingerprint scanner, 13 mega-pixel camera in the top center, and measures only 6.9mm at a weight of 175g.
Gold and silver versions of the phone will be available both with the same 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 display and 2.5D curved glass panel. A sim tray in the side of the phone will allow dual SIM cards or you can have a single SIM and micro SD card (internal memory options are 16GB and 32GB).
Gizchina News of the week
Coolpad have gone for a Snapdragon 615 chipset with 3GB RAM, a controversial choice considering the issues we’ve had with other SD615 phones in the past. Other details include a 5 mega-pixel front camera and built in 2800mAh battery.
The Coolpad Max is already on sale in China, no word on an international launch at this time.
615 ruined it all
That’s totally absurd for an SD615 powered phone, the SoC struggles even with multi-tasking, not to mention gaming.
The Honor 5X costs less and I`m pretty sure it`s a better phone than this.
Red Pepper Note 3 (or w/e you chose to name them in English) launched today
5.5 1080p ,MT6753, 2GB/16GB , 13MP/5MP , fingerprint, 2800mAh and so on at 699CNY(106$).
Realjjj, hi, where did u see it for that price ? Gearbest has the 16gb version for $168us and the 32gb version for $209us. kevin
The official price (in yuan) is 699, or 100$ if you rather. Resellers’ prices are totally another thing
Tooooooooooooooooooooo high a price for a 615 and 3 gb ram….
Don’t worry guys, even elephone’s launches were more interesting than this (and that’s saying something)
The difference though is this phone will actually be released when they say it will….
haha… yeah. Elephone keeps you waiting for months and months and mon…zzzzzzzz
another SD615 fail..

On the one hand it’s good to see Coolpad releasing phones. On the other hand what the hell are they thinking?? You can buy better phones for literally half the price.

Typical mainstream smartphone with qualcom, expensive and yet lousy performance.
I think this to lure those “qualcomm fanboys” buyers to buy with gimmick “Qualcomm inside” LOL

Those specs doesn’t mean a thing if it has a lousy Rom.
