Pity about the cameras. Tablet makers rarely put any importance on cams. 2MP is like ‘why’ even add them. You’d be lucky to even get a barcode read from a 2MP. Least it could have 13MP/8MP config even with a little extra on the price.

At 100$ with the latest Intel chip and a FHD IPS Screen, I don`t really get that we want a better camera thing.

So you’ve relegated the tablet to a child’s toy or a specific basic use.

Most would want an all round device.

Currently this device wouldn’t act in scanning QR code or barcodes. It would be bad at Google Hangouts or other conferencing. It would be a nightmare to use on trains or transport without wifi supplied. It would struggle with commercial Windows games.

The two sore points are the cams and 3G/4G. It probably doesn’t have GPS neither for mapping.

I agree the screen is good, but if they added the little extras it would be an attractive purchase even at $120-150.

There seems to be a device between mobile phones and tablets.

Tablets are cheaper to make due to components not needing to be micro. The problem is tablets lack so much compared to smart phones.

lol, Chuwi can’t even deliver the Hi8 Pro in large quantities. They already announced the hi8 pro back in November 2015 and I pre-ordered it in November. It is still not delivered to me, because there are some problems with the screen on the hi8 pro. You can do a search online, a lot of people are still waiting for the hi8 pro tablet since November 2015.

Most Chinese webshops also delayed the shipping time of the hi8 pro many times already.

Funny thing, I got the Hi8 for $75 and the only changes between the Hi8 and Hi8 Plus, are Type C and a new SoC, how did that make them go from $75 to $125? I have no idea, for $100 is still expensive for what they used to offer few months ago for $75

may I ask where you got it from? I thought $100 for the Hi8 was a pretty good price :O

“Type-C Slot, Faster Transmission of Data”

Uh, no. The connector is USB-C, but the protocol is USB 2.0.
