Xiaomi, Huawei could launch sub-13″ hybrid laptops this year

xiaomi mi pad review

While it’s pretty clear already that Xiaomi will launch its own laptop this year, another addition has apparently been made to the list, in the form of a Chinese compatriot.

And it’s Huawei. Xiaomi and Huawei constitute for a major part of the smartphone market share in China, and it would only seem logical for the companies to launch their own laptops.

That said, word is that the companies are looking to build laptops that will have mobility as their USP; and thus, they’re going to be sub-13-inch devices, most likely with a hybrid form factor.

Gizchina News of the week

Xiaomi’s laptop is expected to run Windows and its own MIUI OS in a dual boot arrangement, while the rumoured Huawei device will have a 12.9-inch screen with the Windows 10 OS.

Xiaomi have already shown interest in bringing Windows to their devices. In fact, their newest tablet, the Mi Pad 2 runs on an Intel chipset, a first for the company. Huawei generally prefer to ship their flagship devices with home-brew SoCs, but I’m not sure how that would work out on a Windows device.

That said, as is the case with almost every rumoured story, take this with a pinch of salt too.

It’s not possible to make a cheap gaming laptop due to the hardware costs. Take a look at Aliexpress, all the cheap laptops have a fairly modest CPU and usually integrated Intel graphics. The best bet is trying to find a used one on eBay.

oh man … but this is china. most economic rules don’t apply here due to very cheap labour and other intermediate expenses being suppressed overall !

can’t hurt to hope AND ebay isnt available in Pakistan ! im fairly confident china WILL soon make laptops capable of running the LATEST , most demanding AAA games at mid-high settings with 40+ STABLE FPS at atleast 720p res !

AND im not asking for a SKYLAKE i7 AND a GTX 980M SLI or r9 390x CROSSFIRE Equipped laptop equipped with 16 GB RAM DDR4… im asking for specs fairly lower than this AND even a 3rd Gen i5 Can do enough with the LATEST AND MEANEST games like witcher 3 !

so , a cheap gaming laptop from china is still on my wish list … unless they make a cheap gaming desktop , which’ll be far more better !
