Windows version of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 goes on sale

For those of you waiting for a Xiaomi laptop then you now have a chance to own one (sort of) with the release of the Windows 10 version of the Mi Pad 2.

Last year Xiaomi unveiled the 2nd generation Xiaomi Mi Pad with Android and promised that the tablet would also be able to run Windows 10 (although not in a dual-boot fashion).

Today the Window’s 10 version of the tablet has been announced in China with a retail price of 1299 Yuan.

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 runs it’s operating system on an Intel Atom X5-Z8500 quad-core chipset and 2GB RAM across a 7.9-inch 2048 x 1536 resolution display. The tablet has options for either 16GB or 64GB internal memory (although the Window’s version only has the 64GB option).

Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 prices in China start at 999 Yuan for the 16GB version rising to 1299 Yuan for either the Windows 10 or Android model with 64GB memory. The table will begin shipping on the 26th January.

I’m glad I didn’t make the mistake to order it. It doesn’t have a GPS – a fact that I’ve found out accidentally. They never mention in the specs something that is a standard but is missing. Mobile device without a GPS – ridiculous! It would be good only for a home toy.

  I guess it depends on your individual use. i bring my tablet everywhere I go, never really have a need for GPS.

  Unless you need a standalone tablet at all times in your car or something… why would you need GPS in your tablet? Phones have GPS in them already…

    I wanted it for development and testing purposes and obtaining location is quite important in our case.

Can the USB C port on this do all the usual expected functions i.e. HDMI out etc…
Or has it just been wired for data transfer and charging???

If the 64GB version can re-flashed with Android CyanogenMod then it is perfect.
Hopefully those online reseller shop don’t jack off the price too much.
I know reseller need to earn profit, but increase the price by 200% is just too damn greedy. The reason why we buy Xiaomi because it is cheap, those online resellers always increase the price very high then it become so expensive, like that then no point buying Xiaomi, might as well buy other reputable brand LOL.

What can we expect for battery life here? and is there an sd card slot? May be a decent upgrade from my gen1 dell venue 8 pro.
