Video: Elephone P9000 vs iPhone 6S Plus vs OnePlus 2

Elephone have shot a short video comparing the Elephone P9000’s design to that of the iPhone 6S and OnePlus 2.

Elephone are pretty excited about their P9000 model and to show it off in all its glory have put together this short video which compares the design and measurements of the P10 powered phone against the iPhone 6S Plus and OnePlus 2.

One area Elephone are particularly proud of is the width of the Elephone P9000. At 148.4mm long and 73.2mm wide it is more compact than the other two phones despite have the same size 5.5-inch display. Thickness is also good too at only 7.3mm with a 3080mAh battery compared the iPhone 6S Plus which is the same thickness but has a smaller 2750mAh battery.

Gizchina News of the week

The video is nice and simple and gives us a good look at the P9000, and if you watch to the end you will see the phone with the screen turned on, revealing a familiar black border theme, but on a much narrower scale than we have seen before.

It definitely is a cheaper phone. That’s the point.

The single core speed of this phone is ~1/3 the speed of the iphone 6S, 2/3 the speed of the OnePlus 2.
The multi-core speed is ~3/4 of the speed of either phone.
The gpu is about half the speed of the oneplus 2, about 1/3 the speed of the iphone 6S.
the camera is a bit weaker than the iphone.
the material quality is also a bit cheaper than the iphone (but better than the oneplus 2).

But the peripherals quality is about the same. The build quality is about the same. So here’s what you get for all that: the price is about half the oneplus 2 and 1/4 the iphone 6s.

I think the P9000 will be a massive seller, IF they can supply the stock and early. Currently their release schedule is one to two months later than others

So the 77% Body to Screen ratio (which I quote in another post of mine) *is* true.

There is an unbelievably low number of phones 5.5 inches or smaller with that kind of BtS ratio. I think it is “10 or less” in the whole history of phones.

If Elephone actually delivers (release the phone in Q1 2016) this would be the most impressive Elephone release thus far, and probably one of the most impressive releases period.

Of course most people here won’t take notice as they’re not very knowledgeable in phone-manufacture techniques, but there’s a reason why such small bezels are a rarity. They are absolutely hard to produce *and* let the phone have the capacity to maintain integrity (i.e. not get thrashed in the first drop).

If they release sources too, I’m sold. If not I’ll pass, as I do with all phones that don’t release sources. For example P8000 gets continuous updates every other week all because of released sources and the community (I’m currently running Linux v3.10.95, 23/1/2016 release! : http://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p8000/orig-development/kernel-guestekrnl-v1-6-2-t3287518 )

If it was not for that it would have been a trash phones like many of the rest of Elephones

The P9000 wont be out till mid-March to early May.

The P9000 Edge will be the one to look out for if the P9000 specs are a little low, like camera resolutions.

That’s bad, So we have here another P7000? Taking ages to be launched after many hype. I’m giving another chance to Elephone with this P9000.

Yes, sorry to say. You’ll notice Elephone also has extended the $5 for $50 scheme till end of February more or less confirming no P9000’s till March. Some Retailers are claiming shipping dates 31st of March which really means up to a fortnight later without hiccups.

          January 26, 2016

Yeah I’ve saw in coolicool a note referring that buyers who order the black model by now, should start to get it shipped by the end of february, after that or I suppose the preorders get the limit, the other buyers should receive it by May. I really don’t get Elephone, they launch phones as M1 and M2 in a blink of eyes, and take months to launch their “flagships”

          January 26, 2016

Good move. I think people should have learnt now to hold back their money till stock is definitely available and you’ve seen enough reviews to make your mind up.

We put a lot of blame of Resellers, but it’s really Elephone headquarters fault in delayed stock. If you do pre-purchase to lock in a price or what not, then use the likes of PayPal.

You maybe able to purchase on GizChina too who would refund, based on reputation.

        January 26, 2016

Yeah the P9000 looks like an all round winner. Nice design, reasonable specs and good price after $50($45) reduction.

While it’s not truly bezeless (no phone actually is, it’s structurally impossible), it’s body to screen ration is probably the greatest as compared to any 5.5 incher in the market.

From a much maligned company like Elephone, that’s not bad, that’s not bad at all. I can’t help but be hopeful for this release (crosses fingers that Elephone won’t find a way to f*** it up).

          January 27, 2016

        • Stef
          January 27, 2016

What is called the bezel, is basically the frame on which the screen is afixed. You’d need great amount of RnD to fix the screen elsewhere. It’s not structurally impossible as in “it will never be done”, but as in “not with current tecniques”.

Like I said people here don’t know much about phone manufacture so they wouldn’t know what is possible and what is not. Sharp, had to develop a whole new way to manufacture their phones with as slim bezels and they’re still the only ones to consistently do so. It’s too expensive fore the rest of the lot, so they avoid it, especially Apple who have some of the thickest bezels in the market…

Elephone from December began to make money, and before that in January you can purchase and shipping, now he began a VIP program, delivery time and at the end of February, even at the end of March, which is to deceive you? By March, the price may not be attractive, because the same configuration, without borders ulefone Future will be listed, the price may be lower than the P9000.
