It’s been a long long time since we have seen a phone with entry-level specifications like this! India’s Micromax Canvas Juice 4 specs read like a 2010 phone!
While Chinese phone makers are competing in the entry-level phone market with devices packing up to 3GB RAM, fingerprint scanners and metal chassis, India’s Micromax have gone for bargain basement features.
The recently launch Canvas Juice 4 comes with a 5-inch display with a resolution of just 854 x 480. A quick calculation reveals that gives us a pixel density of just 196PPI. Another obvious choice to keep costs low is the Spreadtrum quad core, 32bit chipset, 8GB internal memory, 1GB RAM and just 5 mega-pixel rear camera.
Gizchina News of the week
Due to the choice of SoC the Juice 4 only runs on 3G networks, but on the plus side there is a large 3000mAh battery to give good battery life.
Micromax will sell the phone in India through traditional online sales channels, and while pricing isn’t announced we hardly see the phone going for much more than $70. However, even at this low price do you think its worth buying?
at those specs I honestly wouldn’t be surprised to see it going for <$35
Nop
This is compelling to someone who just wants to use this to make phone calls and nothing much else, but in this day and age that seems unlikely. And then if someone buys a phone just for calls then there are better simpler cheaper options.
