Lenovo claims to have sold 180k units of the K4 Note in India; Will ditch flash sales

Lenovo’s having quite a purple patch in India. After the K3 Note sold like hot cakes, it’s the turn of its successor to grab headlines — for all the good reasons.

Lenovo now claim that the K4 Note has seen 180,000 sales in the country so far, which is quite a number… since it’s only been a few weeks since the phone went live in the market.

Like most other online-only phones that have hit the Indian market in the recent past, the K4 Note too is sold on a registration-basis. What this means is that potential buyers are required to register before the actual sale, which lasts as long as stocks do.

Coming back to Lenovo, the brand mentions that it’ll pull the plug on the registration system. This means that the K4 Note will be made available via open sales starting 15th February.

The K4 Note is a 11,900 INR ($175) phone with an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor, 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080p display, 3GB RAM, 16GB ROM, 13 mega-pixel rear camera, 5 mega-pixel front facing camera and a 3300mAh battery.

For some reason that number seems low, especially since the LeTV 1s which sold 155,000 in the last week. I would expect Lenovo who has been in India a lot longer to sell a lot more than that.

  Letv sold 95K last week in India, but yes Lenovo is inflating the numbers the probable number would be in region in 28K per week

Indian mobile market is now owned by Letv which is pushing 1,00,000 sets per week into Indian market, while Lenovo needs a better K4, Xiaomi is busy playing games with 100 sets, in Indian hands ,by the time Redmi Note 3 comes to Indian market, sometime late in 2016, Letv would laugh all way to bank, with 1 million sales in pocket. Ha. Ha.

    K4 Note just does not have the looks or buzz of Le 1s..Letv really is bringing in its product into Indian market and its moving rapidly. Lenovo K4 Note will not be able to hit even the Lenovo K3 sales volumes. For that matter Even laggard Xiaomi will have a uphill task.

      Still waiting on Elephone P9000 when will it hit the indian market. this looks awesome NFC and Wireless charging only in sub 17K

  Btw i might be ignorant but looking at the spec and price of Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is much better and cheaper than this k4 note. So if lenovo can sell that much qty, i am sure xiaomi can sell much much more.
  The only problem with redmi note 2 maybe the quality of the camera is not too good (based on a lot of post of Redmi note 2 users on internet, i might be wrong)

    You are correct — camera is a bit of a let down on the Redmi Note 2, especially for Xiaomi, who generally have great software optimisation for their cameras. perhaps the sensor is just too limited, who knows.
    Having said that, I wonder how the cameras of the Redmi Note 3 or Redmi 3 compare…
