MWC 2016: Doogee F7 Hands on Helio X20

It’s been a very busy day (you can probably tell by the lack of updates) but I managed to get my hands on a few things I can show you (and some I can’t yet) like the latest Doogee flagship.

While I say I got my hands on the Doogee F7, I didn’t actually manage to use the phone as this version wasn’t working and the only other model had been swiped by a ‘customer’.

What I learned from the phone is that the device is slimmer than I imagined it would and has a metal frame (something that another highly expected Helio X20 phone does not have!).

The version of the phone I had in my hand is the Doogee F7 with a 5.5-inch screen and boasting, 3GB RAM, 16GB memory, 16 mega-pixel rear camera, 8 mega-pixel front camera and a 3600mAh battery.

The version not on show is the more potent Doogee F7 Pro which has a larger 5.7-inch display, 4GB RAM, 32GB memory, 21 mega-pixel rear camera, 13 mega-pixel front camera and 4000mAh battery.

Both versions of the Doogee F7 get Android 6.0 Marshmallow,, 5V/2A fast charging and that powerful 10 core Mediatek Helio X20 chipset.

Doogee plan to launch both the Doogee F7 and Doogee F7 Pro sometime in March in gold, grey and black. Pricing is rather competitive with the F7 getting a RRP of around $180 and the F7 Pro roughly $200.

I also tried a few other Doogee products including their rather cool Doogee P1 Projector that they leaked on Facebook a few days ago. More on that and other device from MWC coming soon.

  Its still well priced even at $200. But they have to get the software right. It isnt just all about the powerful hardware.

      Thats right. They lied about the 2K display. Like you said, the 2K display doesn’t really matter but its not good for any manufacturer to lie about phone specs.

I’m curious to see how they managed to f*ck up in real world usage… I’m expecting bad camera due to bad optics and worse sf, and bad battery life due to fake declared amperage and (again) bad sw… But maybe they can surprise me, and ruin something else too! ?

It says the battery at the cheap version will be 3600mAh and at the Pro version will be 4000mAh…
I believe that the 2 phones will have exactly the same battery and it won’t even be 3000mAh!!! Doogee always has fake battery capacity… Let’s see… =

  Thats right. They lied about the 2K display. Like you said, the 2K display doesn’t really matter but its not good for any manufacturer to lie about phone specs.

Ugly to me. Doogee will just release 1,000 pcs and shut production and support.
You will get tired while trying to get doogee phone because of limited supply.
I see this company like something that won’t survive till next 2 years in business.

I have been one of Doogee’s biggest critics since I bought one of their models last year and it ended up being a nightmare experience. But I actually like the design of this and on paper the specs sound good. I don’t like that they only have a dummy model available, you would think they would bring working versions to MWC.

    My Doogee was ok for about two months, I even talked about how good it was on here. And then the problems started. First the sim card reader stopped working. Then the camera stopped working. Then the speakers stopped working. Doogee wouldn’t do anything to help me either, their service was an absolute joke, in fact they spent more time trying to blame me for using the phone wrong than trying to fix the problem.

      I have a DG700. The phone has some good parts. Great battery life, smooth OS, is reliable and durable. But:
      – Display is terrible
      – Camera is pretty bad
      – They state it is IP67, in fact it dies after a few seconds under water
      – After one year the back cover is really bad looking
      – GPS is mediocre at best
      – No compass in an outdoor phone
      – One of the screws holding the metal construction just dropped out
      The phone is not good. On the other hand I still have it after one year and use it daily. I would give Doogee a second chance but they would have to improve dramatically.
      I’m interested how it will compare to Zopo Speed 8.

Andi I would be good if one of the crew or yourself did a story on where the Chinese are at in this MWC event. Like summarising the future of the Chinese phone market and their products and how they are competing with each other.

Wow nice specs on the Pro. Even the Doogee F7 is a nice layout. At $200 for the Pro that will mark the death of the Vowney. Elephone really know how to kick themselves.
The back looks good except the sticker or logo, but the front is pretty cheap looking.
