Huawei isn’t the first name that springs into your head when you think smartphone photography. The folks at the company seem to be aware of it and are trying to make amends, courtesy a new partnership.
Huawei have joined hands with well-known camera maker Leica. While not too much about the partnership is known at the moment, Huawei did mention that the companies would cooperate on “research and development, design, co-engineering, user experience, marketing and retail distribution.”
Gizchina News of the week
The rate at which Huawei is growing at the moment could only get a boost from this partnership. It isn’t just the technical aspect that Huawei will touch in buyers’ minds in the future with the Leica partnership, but they’ll also touch the emotional bit.
As mentioned, Huawei is still a far way from being the most recognised brand among smartphone camera enthusiasts, but the picture quality, in general, has been on the way up. The Mate 8 is a good example.
Do you think this partnership will play a key role for Huawei (especially in the western markets)? Let us know in the comments section below.
Yes! Surely to join forces with a company with the right know-how is the best way to improve without wasting barrels of money [breaking bad’s citation needed] like Samsung is doing (sammy still doesn’t use his sensors on their own flagships, if I recall).
Too bad we’re not going to see any results in the short run, but in the end I think this will step up things and gives huawei that “little something” it still misses regarding the other flagships (not saying they’re bad by every mean, just they’re still a little behind for now).
I’m looking foward for a phone with dual-camera, (not that protruding) optical zoom, laser autofocus, big ass sensor with fat ass pixels, and a chunky battery to match (and, in my dreams, a usb plugged cover with bb priv-like keyboard ?)
Samsung uses a combination of sensors on their phones. The S6 featured sensors from both Sony and Samsung.
lol … will prolly cost $600+ !
