Meizu’s Pro 6 smartphone is likely going to launch earlier than anticipated and may even get a force touch display.
While the Pro 5 mini might be dead in the water the Meizu Pro 6 is still a goer and the Flyme team are already working on how to integrate the phones newest component in to Meizu’s OS.
Gizchina News of the week
Force touch is going to be the next big feature on Meizu it seem, and to show us what we will be able to do with the feature a screenshot has been released. The screen shot simply shows us that we are able to push down on an icon to open up options directly from the home screen of Flyme. This feature has already been in use on the ZTE Axon Mini and Huawei Mate S for some time.
It’s unclear what other options the pressure sensitive display might offer to the user, but we can guess that there will be some sort of scale app built-in, and perhaps knuckle gestures too.
I am not a Meizu fan just a fan of the MX5. I don’t have enough history with the company as a whole to defend them.
Now if he says Xiaomi or Gionee sucks, them are fighting words!
I never owned a Meizu but it wouldn’t say they suck. They own 4% of the Chinese market which is a huge number.
From the forums I belong to they have struggled with software support for the M line of products. Support for the MX5 has been pretty good, not on Xiaomi’s level but then again no one is on Xiaomi’s level when it comes to software.
Sorry dude but this is wrong. Meizu is definitely up there with Xiaomi when it comes to software updates. They don’t come weekly but still they do come.
The meizu MX2 had recently received a new update. That’s 2,5 years of software support!
The MX software support has been very good, the M line (budget phones) though from what I hear on Meizu forums has not been so good. Their support is good but it is nowhere close to Xiaomi.
I have both Pro 5 and M1 Note. So far both have been receiving updates regularly so you can’t even judge the support in the M series since it’s still pretty active.
People complain about the not so frequent update of the “I” stable rom. The chinese/ english beta rom (which is far more stable than many other official roms on other manufacturers) is updated frequently on the M series.
Good to know I have no experience with the M line so I can’t say personally, I just often see on the Meizu forums people complaining. Support for the MX5 has been very good.
People complain all the time! If M1 Note wont upgrade to Android 6, I will have complains as well.
Didn’t you get the RN3? Is it with the Helio or the newer one with the 650?
Yes, I’ve got the RN3 with SD650.
Pretty good solid phone.
No problems with the phone? Online here in China some users do have some according to my wife but I don’t know if they are valid or not. I’m planning to buy one for her to replace her aging S3. It does have dual SIM with one slot for either a SIM card or a TF card right?
I’ve had no problem so far.
The phone runs faster than my MI4, runs cooler, battery lasts 2 full days with heavy usage.
Camera is also very good for the price of the phone.
What problems do other people have?
The only thing that I might complain of is the fingerprint scanner: sometimes it doesn’t recognize the finger so I disabled.
Yes, it has a combo tray for either 2 micro sim cards or 1 sim and 1 SD card.
Ok, thanks for the info. Will have to ask the wife about specific problems. Can’t read Chinese. Hopefully an update will solve fingerprint scanner problem.
My precious Meizu MX5 has been excellent but I am not a Meizu fanboy enough to attack you.
Talk trash about the Mi5 or Gionee S8 and we will be mortal enemies!!! Haha jk, maybe….
Well, vivo announced the xplay with an edge screen, meizu seems to be working on force touch… Looks like this will be a “put a totally useless feature in your phone” year…
Gionee already started the year with the Force Touch which unless it has significant development from Android devs is a completely useless feature.
The other go to feature will be dual camera setup, which in some phones will produce excellent results but in many others will be so poorly optimized it will be a wasted feature.
