Huawei recently announced a strategic tie-up with camera maker Leica. Rumours, leaks, and logic point at the Huawei P9 as the first phone to benefit from the partnership, but will it?
We should know soon. How soon though, is a question that these fresh leaks attempt to answer. According to Evan Blass (aka @evleaks), the phone will launch next month.
Gizchina News of the week
April 6th is when @evleaks suggests the P9 will see light of day. Although now a near-household name, Huawei was late in joining in on the smartphone party, and despite that has managed to scale up at impressive rates in the recent past. So much so that the Chinese brand is now eyeing Korea’s Samsung and US’s Apple.
Huawei’s mid-range phones continue to do well across markets. The brand is also helped a great deal by the presence of its sibling brand Honor, which deals with online buyers for the most part.
With not a lot to go before the launch of the P9, Huawei will have a lot of hopes pegged on to the phone.
This is the first Huawei I am really excited for the launch, especially since the Mi5 did not impress me at all.
I thought you were impressed by the Mi5?? It was typical (boring) Xiaomi all the way!
No I was impressed by the Gionee S8. The Mi5 between the ugly black border and the uninspired design (or inspired by Samsung lol) it just didn’t do much for me. I am waiting for the P9, Meizu MX6 and One Plus 3 before I decide on my next phone.
How does Huawei’s EMUI compare with Xiaomi’s MIUI ?
I havent used EMUI since the P6 and then it wasn’t as good., but that was also in 2013. Dont know how it is today.
Fair enough. I remember you telling me MIUI updates will be very good on the Xiaomi Mi 5 for the next few years.
Do you know what Huawei is like with EMUI, if I were to buy the P9 and not Mi 5 ?
Honestly I am not the best one to ask about Huawei. I briefly used a P6 when I lived in Cambodia. I was supposed to be there for 6 months but it got cut short and I was only there a month. A month wasn’t long enough to speak about them. The build quality was excellent tho.
May just have to toss a coin then 🙂
EMUI is good rom. Not wow as Miui, but simple stable and practical. It gets some updates when needed, nothing special.
Will it be updated in the long term though ?
Thinking of last Honor, dont be sure for android upgrades.
