Xiaomi Mi5 Benchmarks

For those of you wanting to see how the standard version of the Xiaomi Mi5 performs, here are a few benchmarks I have just ran.

Earlier today I received the Xiaomi Mi5. This standard version of the phone has a 1.8Ghz Snapdragon 820, 3GB RAM and 32GB memory. Those specs are slightly downgraded when compared to the Xiaomi Mi5 Pro, but the performance is excellent none the less.

I’m still getting to grips with the Xiaomi Mi5 and it is too early to tell you things like how fast the phone charges or how good the camera is, but these benchmarks should give you an idea of the power in this phone.

        Frankly I don’t know the answer to that — what you are asking is in part “how meaningful is Antutu for 2016 flagship phones?”
        A Samsung Galaxy S4, which scores somewhere in the neighborhood of 25k-35k, is actually fairly peppy as a daily light use phone.

    Nothing yet lol. I am leaning towards the Gionee S8 but I want to wait for the Meizu MX6, Huawei P9 and One Plus 3 to come out first.

      Haha word…i think the phones you mentionned should offer a huge plus compared to the MI5 which is almost at 400$ for the basic version. You like big screens so you would be disappointed at all. I am sure OnePlus 3 and Meizu MX6 will be killer phones.

        The Mi5 is a very good phone with killer specs for the price I just don’t like the screen size or design.

  I know, right? Now you’ll never buy it with such a low antutu score! Maybe a fixed version of the rom will raise it a bit, but it probably won’t be enough anyway 🙁

It would be great if you could run GFXBench long term performance, maybe leave it running when you go to sleep.
Nobody has looked at that yet to see how hard the GPU throttles under sustained load.- or at least nothing i could find last time i’ve checked a few h ago.

    I can’t see an article and it is interesting as it can do 4k at 60FPS for cheap and A72 at 2GHz is pretty fast. Plus the Mediatek chip it uses is something we didn’t knew it exists,if you Google MT8693 all you find is related to this device.

  PS> if you run it twice in a row the number drops a lot still, just like the 810. Back to back runs on the Galaxy S7 snapdragon 820 went from ~130k to 94k from first to second run. This puts it into spitting distance of the Helio X20, which doesn’t have anywhere near that much fade.

  A Samsung Galaxy S4, which scores somewhere in the neighborhood of 25k-35k in antutu v6, is actually fairly peppy as a daily light use phone. Virtually any phone sold in 2016 will at least match, if not double or more, that performance, even at prices well below $200. So basically antutu scores are meaningless for simple daily use.
  If you have some specific app or type of app (like gaming) that is resource intensive then you will also have a very specific measure of what good enough is. So antutu scores are possibly meaningless again.
  If you are a power user looking to replace their laptop/desktop literally with their phone, you’ll want something that is as powerful as possible but the biggest concern is the CPU speed scores, not the overall antutu score. A concrete example: the helio X20 and the kirin 950 score ~75-85k and ~85-95k repsectively, while the snapdragon 820 scores ~110-140k. However most of the Snapdragon’s advantage comes from the GPU (Which a power user who isnt gaming won’t care about) — and these very different scores are representing roughly the same performance in this regard from all three designs.

Since we’re talking about benchmark here, can you run at least 3 antutu in a row and tell us how much results get lower and how much temperature rise?
Can we get a battery test next?

So we can’t buy directly from mi even if we have Chinese address and payment too? Mi sites asking for captcha login in Chinese language grrrrr!!

    Thing is little complicated, the friend is not Chinese, my relative who lives there and not much of an techie person. Purchasing mi online is tricky, need to act super fast to beat those Chinese bots and place order smoothly. That’s why I wanted to do all myself and use that friend’s address.

The industry has gone beyond megahertz battles, so those extra Mhz on the CPU and GPU do amplify performance in benchmarks, but in real life you will never really know the difference, because it`s the architecture that actually matters.
