Avert your gaze! The latest LeTV 2 leak is awful

leaked letv 2 design

New LeTV 2 leaks show dual glass and alloy design that would suit a sub $100 budget phone.

I remember seeing the first LeTV phones and thinking ‘Wow, these guys have done a great job’. I really was amazed by how well LeTV had put together their range of phones, got the build, specs and pricing right and just ran all over the competition.

But now LeTV are a name to be reckoned with I guess the design department have decided to sit back and take it easy as the new LeTV 2 leaks look dreadful.

These images show a phone with dual glass design and metal frame, which can usually equal a very elegant design, but not here.

In my opinion the front of the phone doesn’t match the rear, and the protruding camera design on the back simply looks like a cost cutting afterthought.

Gizchina News of the week

Anzhou, the Chinese site who first showed these leaks, claims that the new LeTV 2 will feature a choice of either a Snapdragon 820 or Helio X20 chipset. The screen on the phone is said to be a 5.7-inch 2K model, and other hardware includes a 21 mega-pixel rear camera, 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory.

At least the pricing sounds good still though with the Mediatek phone rumoured to cost as little as 1799 Yuan ($276). What do you think of these LeTV 2 designs?

While the back is weird , doubt it is glass.

Not as awful as the title suggest. Not beautiful either, just an averagely looking phone.

I think this looks better than any LeTV before it. I was never a fan of their design choices.

looks a bit like the Mi 4s, which is equally ugly

I am not sure Yash…. more like OPX

Based on previous leak which Gizchina missed, I guess back is made of frosted glass like Xperia Z5.

Protruding camera implies thin body and large sensor pair, not cost reduction effort. Thin phones tend to be have bad screen to body ratio for obvious reason, but that one seems not so tall including infamous black borders.

Also seems like we have a new LeEco logo. I like it.

It’s exact opposite of ugly IMO. I said exact same thing for Mi5 leaks while people considering it’s ugly.

But I have to say I’m neither fan of fragile glass on the back nor protruding cameras.

Assuming that one is the same Letv X620 which is previously appeared on Geekbench database, it will be equipped with Helio X20 and 3GB RAM.

Though 1799 is not bad at all for 64GB/4GB Helio X20, 5.7″ QHD display, if it can be start from 1200 yuan for 32GB/3GB model it might be real hit against Redmi Note 3 Pro.

thats true… every bit of it of what you said…
I am not going as far as Z5; but more inline with OPX with the glass back finish. this one will be the 2nd tier flagship and it will use Helio X20 instead of SD820. which would be used in leMax.

Not the greatest design but the title is an overreaction.

Please no glass! That is the worst material I can think of for a phone.
Please not 5,7″ (I think 5,5 is ideal).
And why make it almost 300$? That is not a successor for the Le1 if it has a higher price.

This is likely the x820 , a SD820 based device with 1440p not the x620 with X20. The pricing is also just empty speculation.

I had the Gionee S5.5 which was made of glass, it was one of the most durable phones I ever used. C4eTech had the same phone run over by a car after falling out of his pocket on the highway and it kept working. It depends on the glass they use.

Haven’t you also heared of the dozen of Sony phones? Their glass back suddenly shatters over time and no one knows why.

          March 8, 2016

They probably use cheap glass like the Nexus 4 used. Gionee used Gorilla Glass 3 on theirs.

why? the only bad thing i can think of is it being slippery/fingerprint magnet, they can make glass harder than metal so id give it to glass, like i said before oukitel made glass that was as hard as sapphire it was second only to diamond….

Am I the only one who likes it?

Anyway, there’s something odd in this phone:
I can’t see the fingerprint scanner.
Maybe that protruding camera is in reality a fingerprint scanner while that bright spot on the left upper corner is the camera (same spot of MI5)

I think there’s nothing wrong with the design. Better than Vivo and Oppo for sure.

I like it, definetely not the best one design-wise but definitely not ugly.
Looks interesting with MTK X20, even better with 820 and cheap price.
They can use full hd instead of 2k to reduce final price.

    Go LeTV!!

It will most likely be like the Mi5, announced at 270$, resellers selling it at 400$ and more, so I wouldn’t hold my breath.

the back is a bit weird…like they stayed with their 1s design also for the max pro 2 or what the name was..so why would they switch now? and i jsut find the back looks really weird…

They decided to sink the company when they changed the name and logo. Now I guess they handed over phone design to the same team who did the rebranding. The older models were the most beautiful designs I have ever seen, they were what HTC could have been if they didn’t stop trying after the M7. RIP LeTv

Lol i don’t think its that bad, could be better. The name LeEco i think is terrible, but we can’t complain on so cheap phones. I really love Letv for now!

Not really bad design wise. But certainly wouldn’t buy another LeEco phone this time. They better put a decent camera this time with that price.
