UMi pull a quick one and announce Windows 10 for the UMi Touch

Apparently Windows 10 will be available on the UMi Touch as an optional system claims the smartphone maker behind the device.

We’ve heard plenty of promises from UMi in regards to the UMi Touch, and today’s might just be the most surprising so far. Apparently UMi will not only release Android 6.0 on the phone out of the box, but will also have a separate Windows 10 OS available for user to download.

UMi claim that Windows 10 on the UMi Touch will offer an uncompromised experience and state that the system will come bundled with all the usual Windows applications, although we’re not sure how useful the Office suite of Windows apps are going to be on the 5.5-inch mobile.

Cortana is also going to be part of the system meaning voice activated features, searching and interaction, plus the Microsoft Lumia camera application.

There are a few details that we’re not sure are actually accurate from UMi’s latest claims. For example the company says that the Lumia camera app will allow you to shoot video in 4K, but the last time we checked the MT6753 chipset set in the phone isn’t capable of 4K.

The UMi Touch is labelled as UMi’s 2016 flagship and used a metal body similar in design to the Meizu MX5 and features a fingerprint scanner on the physical home button. Specs include 3GB RAM, micro SD support, 4000mAh battery, and Sony IMX238 rear camera.

Haha, I don’t know what to say really… I’ve got one on pre-order (used the coupon a few weeks back and managed to get it for £76 from Tomtop)
And, ye, this is obviously sounding awesome but it’ll be quite funny to see just how much ‘truth’ Umi were telling during these last few weeks haha…

  As a former Microsoft Mobile employee I can’t say whether it is real or fake but I do know there are still about a dozen Windows phones yet to launch from some surprising brands you wouldn’t expect.

        I shouldn’t say full support, it has support for any of their chips released in the last 2 years. Basically anything from 6735-current. This was one of the goals of Windows 10 Mobile because some of the strongest sales of Windows phones has been in countries in Asia where MTK dominates.
        I believe the newest Blu Windows Phone releasing this summer will be MTK powered.

        I left to focus on something new. This was my first time working at a large corporation and it just wasn’t for me. I actually prefer doing free lance/contract work which is what I did before.
        I would say around June/July is when the first MTK W10 phones will show up.

        That makes things more insteresting. I have mixed feelings about WP, but I still like the variety and would appreciatte to have one device with it.
        But I would never pay too much for one 😛
        So what I find in mid term? affordable, but low appealing devices. 650 for example looks cool, but Snapdragon 210?
        Now with MTK SoCs we can see affordable devices with good specs.

        The one thing I can say having used just about every Windows Phone available, Qualcomm’s chips run a lot faster with Windows than with Android.

        this is 100% true, i just got my hands on a lumia 435 (1 sim version), i got it for 10 euros, i just wanted to try windows phone, this phone has a qualcomm dual core cpu and 1gb of ram and i have been surprised by the performance, the phone is so smooth and is even capable of some gaming, i played asphalt 8 and completed lostecho on it. The only issue i have is with the ram (this is already an old phone) when i switch apps sometimes i get the “resuming” animation but the phone doesnt stutter. And aparently this thing, even tough its old and low spec’d will get an update to windows 10, i have been surprised by this thing.

        Nope it’s Nadella now, he is fixing a lot of the mistakes Ballmer made. I actually have faith in him to turn Microsoft around.

        I think Nadella made a couple of gutsy moves at MS that the old MS folks would have never done.
        I was surprised to find MS products on github and such.
        Maybe he has to take things even further and make Windows 10 open source sometime in the future, at least the phone edition. It will make competing against Android much easier IMO.

        One thing he has been doing has been getting rid of a lot of the waste within the company. It sucks that people had to lose their jobs but there was some jobs that 10 people were basically doing the same task.

        Actually going back to school. I have a bachelors and MBA now I am gonna get a Masters of International Relations. I wanted to take some time off and spend with my family, I have been away so much the past 10+ years. Kind of an educational sabbatical.

  Why fake? They promoted this long ago on the product page.

I’m the HAMMER and iron pro user and i like about their rootjoy tool. it allows you to install actually many different ROMs for example MIUI, flyme and others. so i am not surprised if they release windows 10. overall they are the first and the only one who provides different customized ROMs.
