s_0ad5e5d34d2e42f78544596752408c13Gionee recently gave themselves a bit of a rebrand with a new, fresh logo. The S8 is among the first Gionee phones that will feature the new logo, and it looks like China will get the S8 before any other country.

That, because the phone was recently spotted on TENAA. The listing on the website that accompanied the visit talks about the radio features and such, let’s take a deeper look.

First, lets take a quick look over the spec sheet of the Gionee S8 (hands on):

I hope someone will do a camera comparison with the mi5 even tho the mi5 is like a way more powerful phone in terms of processor

And the s8 will probably be really expensive

Expect the S8 to start around $450 with Gionee badging. Blu will probably release it 6 months from now at under $200. They usually rebrand the “S” series phones for $199.

As for the camera it was amazing from my hands on time with it at MWC.

So it may be e7’s spiritual heir? I kinda like it

No. Blu releases the E series for around $349. Their latest one was the Pure XL, which is the E8. The most recent S series is the Vivo 5, S7.

No, I was talking about s8 camera performances: it could become a “nice specs phone with a great camera for the price” just like e7 used to be back in the days!

Ahh I gotcha. Gionee usually does pretty well in the camera department on all their phones. Their downfall is always software and price.

A Blu rep already confirmed to me that they will be releasing at some point. It will be the next Vivo phone for them.

    why the small battery

      March 16, 2016

      3000 is small nowadays?

      • justyfier
        March 16, 2016

Yes, it is. Everything asks more power. So if you want it to last you more than a day on moderate to heavy use. 3000 isnt enough

it maybe enough, if you knew its density i.e Wh/l

The P10 was developed for power efficiency as well so it should be fine with that, although a bigger one would always be welcomed. But they also have to make money….

3000 is enough in any of my phones for a day. lol. and i play games, browse the web watch youtube in the evening and chat a lot.

3150 lasts me a day and half with a processor that isn’t as efficient as the P10….

    • balcobomber25
      March 16, 2016

The P10 is an efficient processor and 3000mAh is what most phones under 7mm thick have. The Xiaomi Mi5 with a larger display and a more powerful processor has 3500.

A Gionee rep at MWC told me it would have both Band 20 and Band 17 LTE. Take that with a grain of salt though because oftentimes the reps at these events are salesman who know about as much as you or I do.

“To get an idea of the Helio P10’s potency, read our review of the Elephone P9000.”

Yeah, and to get an idea of Italian food, read McDonald’s italian page… lol

    • March 16, 2016

That cracked me up. If Elephone are reading this, I hope they don’t realize the pun.

I think they’d be happy instead! They actually want to be the living joke of chinese tech world, a mascotte of some sort!

…or, at least, that’s the only explanation I can think of when I see their products ?
