The Xiaomi Redmi 3 has spawned 4 new variant according to today’s listings on TENAA. Here are the details of all 4.
It wasn’t long ago when the Xiaomi Redmi 3 launched. The Redmi 3 brought the all new metal body of the Note 3 in a smaller and more affordable package. But new versions of the phone have now emerged with upgrades from a fingerprint scanner on the rear, to a larger battery and more RAM.
The 4 phones are currently only known by their code names (2015810, 2015817,2015818 and 2015819) but we assume that Xiaomi will give the phones names like Xiaomi Redmi 3A, 3 Pro etc.
Specifications of each model can be seen in the comparison table below:

Going through the specs the Xiaomi Redmi 3 2015817 would be the phone that power users might want to take a look at as it gets a fingerprint scanner, 3GB RAM and 32GB memory. Budget shoppers would probably opt for the Xiaomi Redmi 3 2015810 which only has 2GB RAM, no fingerprint scanner and a 4000mAh battery.
No word on when Xiaomi plan to launch these new Xiaomi Redmi 3 variants or if they will be released in other Xiaomi Global markets, but sources say pricing could start from only 599 Yuan and rise to only 799 Yuan.
Different features to target different customers while keeping the lowest price possible.
I think this is the logic behind it.
It reminds me the “build your own…” We have seen in the past, especially when people use to build their assembled PC picking each specific component to save money on unwanted things and put more money into needed things.
Not a bad idea overall… They should make a “build your own phone” where you can pick storage, Ram, display, features.. (Dual sim, fingerprint scanner, metal body, bigger battery…)
In my oipinion, they keep staying behind the “build your own…” idea for as long as they don’t offer an option of better camera for few bobs extra.
I don’t need my phone to be very fast, or fancy. I’d like to see a better cam in it, even if I need to add substantial (as for the budget range) amount of money. They just don’t seem to give me that option.
I agree that picking from so many devices wil become confiusing.
A good camera on a super budget phone like the Redmi is going to be hard also because that would kill the sales of the midranger (MI4C, MI4S)
I know – it’s just my wishful thinking.
Mi4c is still an overkill for my needs, but it looks like I will eventually end up with something like this model.
To be honest – good camera and P10 SoC and 32GB, or16GB+SDslot sounds just like it, but no one wants to do that in 5-in yet. It doesn’t have to be super budget – I’m ok with the 180-220$ pice range. I keep waiting.
If you’re willing to go 5.5″ then you might have more choices.
Somehow 5″ are getting forgotten.
Big mistake in my opinion
I feel you, I do have the same problem chosing a phone. I am not a fan of 5.5″ phones but am considering the Note 3 Pro. If the price of Mi4c will fall in coming weeks I might be tempted. The Redmi 3 or MI4S with SD650 would have been a killer phone IMO. There are too few choices out there and like you I don’t want to spend a lot of cash into it.
