It’s official, folks; the Huawei P9 isn’t the only phone that will launch on the 6th of April.
We’ve seen multiple cases of smaller Chinese companies trying to steal the thunder from a bigger launch. That said, we as tech enthusiasts are hardly bothered as long as what’s being launched is interesting.
In this case, we’re talking about the Meizu M3 Note. Meizu have been fairly aggressive launching phones every now and then, so it doesn’t really come as a surprise that the M2 Note is already being phased out.
Gizchina News of the week
The M3 Note will be announced at the Beijing National Convention Center on the 6th of April. There’s no word on the spec set of the phone, but common sense says that it’ll be a mid ranger.
You’d have thought that the M3 Note would feature the very popular MediaTek MT6795 Helio X10 chip, something that we also saw on the Meizu Metal. It however looks like the company chose the Helio P10 over the X10 for this phone, along with a 5.5-inch display, 2GB RAM, 3200mAh battery and 16/32GB storage.
If the same leaks are to be believed, the phone will cost 799 Yuan ($125) and 999 Yuan ($155) for the 16GB and 32GB variants.
Hi! How come your name means “hamburger fire”?
I will buy one if resellers aren’t too greedy with pricing.
Personally I cannot see how someone would take this over the Redmi Note 3…
The Mediatek version with 32GB is widely available for nearly half a year now, offering 3GB of RAM aswell as a slightly faster SOC for the same 999 yuan
Meizu doesnt care for international LTE bands, ROM support and customer service either, so whats the advantage over a RMN3?
If it’s a plastic bodied phone without fingerprint scanner even 799 yuan wouldn’t be low enough to save it IMO.
Redmi Note 2 released with very similar specs and price more than half a year ago.
I don’t see anything mentioned above about build materials or fingerprint scanner. Do you have another link that mentions this/?
That has already proven false. Meizu has already said they aren’t using the Exnyos in Pro 6. That calls into question the accuracy of the rest.
Debatable…RMN3 starts from $170 from re-sellers, and the 3GB Ram from $200. Meizu will definitely come with a better display and better build quality and maybe design. And a P10 coupled with a 3500 mAh should match the RMN3’s X10 and 4000 mAh.
I could see how plenty of people would. There are a lot of people that don’t like Xiaomi or MIUI. The extra gig of RAM isn’t that big of a deal seeing as MIUI is a lot heavier than Flyme. The M Note 2 and the Redmi Note 3 have the same exact LTE bands….
that’s why in early 2015 i bought mx4 instead of mi4, because of miui, that looks awfull for me.
I love MIUI and Xiaomi but I know a lot of people like you that don’t and won’t buy them no matter the cost.
Will certainly be better than the P9000 and probably cheaper 🙂
needs a fingerprint scanner , 3 GB ram ( for GAMES) and a bloody good camera (ois , dual tone , pdaf ,slowmo like the redmi note pro ) !
The M2 Note has slow-mo, so I would expect the same on the M3. Dual tone, again, present on the M2, no reason to expect it to not be present in its successor. PDAF is pretty standard now, so also a reasonable assumption. OIS… in a sub 1000RMB device? Not going to happen. This is an entry level device. I agree 3GB RAM should be present (or at least an option perhaps for the higher storage variant) but we’ll see.
I would imagine fingerprint scanners will be pretty much standard on almost every new device. I disagree that the previous iteration badly missed it. The M2 Note released before fingerprint scanners had become ubiquitous. If you look at the competitors it had at the time, I can’t think of any that included them. But the Meizu Metal was in many ways a continuation of the M2 Note range, and included a fingerprint scanner. I don’t see them not including it when it is, especially with the looming Redmi 3S, approaching a standard feature on Xiaomi’s range of devices.
