Watch: Elephone pit the P9000 against the Xiaomi Mi 5

Elephone have a knack of attracting attention one way or the other. Today, we’d like to share a video we recently came across; one that compares the Elephone P9000 to the Xiaomi Mi 5.

If you have been on the internet in the last few weeks, you’ll know that the Mi 5 is Xiaomi’s current flagship, and the first phone in the world to go on sale with the Snapdragon 820 SoC.

The P9000 on the other hand, is a much more affordable phone with lesser powerful hardware. You can read our review of the phone to get an idea of what its all about.

Gizchina News of the week

Elephone just pit these two devices — the P9000 and the Mi 5 — against one another, while trying to highlight the points where the P9000 has a grip over the Mi 5. Watch the video below:

The P9000 and the Mi 5 are fairly different phones, and any buyer would hardly be confused between the two. Elephone clearly don’t want to take a chance, just in case…

Completely uninformative video. And the photos from the Elephone don’t measure up.

Wait for the sequel, a few months later – Mi5 the same while the Elephone refuses to turn on…

P9000 is quickly becoming overpriced ad those X20 devices are coming. I can see it being a success at $190 but not at the current price…

Why should anyone compare light and darkness.

    Xiaomi – Light
    Elephone – Darkness

I can see why they did it. That screen looks so much better than the mi5, and their camera, while clearly worse, doesn’t look *that* bad next to the DSLR or the Mi5. But its mostly about the win on the screen — there apparently is a third version coming out soon with a Helio X20.

The helio X20 will perform about the same as the low cost Mi5

Except it won’t be released till 2080.

yeah I dont know what to say. they clearly have a phone that is ready for prime time in terms of the rest of the specs. Then they put the lowest-common-denominator processor in there and shelve the P9000 “Edge” that apparently was the helio x20 variant, and that they already had engineering samples of in January (I’ve seen a video of the thing).

Elephone is capable of making good phones they just have messed up priorities. They want to be the next Xiaomi without any of the work Xiaomi did. If they spent all their time and money on perfecting one phone instead of 12 they could challenge on this industry.

After a while Mi 5 (3GB of Ram) starts killing background processes, so for most intents and purposes P9000 (4GB of Ram) would already feel faster.

Unless you happen to do something CPU intensive (few such apps on play store) or you like to Game a lot, in which case the SD 820 would vanquish both P10 and X20…

I wish Elephone would stop with the gimmicks like this and just focus on making good phones. This is what I call smoke and mirrors advertising.

If Elephone eventually drop the price to 150$ it might be worth it, but at that price you ar better off buying a MI4c or Mi4S for just a few dollars more.

    Elephone are nuts
They should quit everything else and focus on this P9000 line and the S line and forget all the other crap they are running into. I do see a better screen here for some reason maybe I need glasses but it comes out better than the Mi5 on my side of the woods…
Maybe one day in 2056 they will release a P9000 with the mtk X20 and it will be great …..

    … Not??
