This usually happens when MediaTek announce an efficiently-priced SoC. A lot of companies jump the gun and announce devices based on it. We’ve seen that with the Helio X10, P10… and almost every other MediaTek SoC.
Coming to the subject of this article, it’s the new iNew U5W. It’s a variant of the already existing U5 which comes with the MediaTek MT6735. The U5W, on the other hand, takes budget to another level and features the MT6580.
Gizchina News of the week
Full specifications of this phone include a 5-inch 854 x 480p display, 1GB of RAM, 8GB on-board ROM (expandable via microSD), a 5 mega-pixel rear camera, 2 mega-pixel front-facing camera, and lastly, a 3000mAh battery.
iNew claim that the U5W uses a full-aluminium chassis which makes the phone sturdier than devices in its range. The phone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box, and is expected to go on sale in the coming few days. There’s no word on the pricing yet, but expect it to be in the UMi Rome X-Bluboo Picasso range.
