Elephone have finally posted the Elephone P9000 Edge on their website with Helio X25 chipset, borderless design and ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
So Elephone promised 3 versions of the P9000, 2 are already on sale and the flagship P9000 Edge has been listed, but before you get too excited just remember what day it is.
According to the banner image on the Elephone website the P9000 Edge will boast the Helio X25 chipset, a bezel less design and ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
Gizchina News of the week
But aren’t Meizu meant to be the only ones to have the Helio X25? Well yes, and they still are. You see, as soon as you hit the link from the Elephone homepage this happens!
We hope this doesn’t mean that the P9000 Edge isn’t launching, but its still a better April Fools prank than Meizu’s.
To hell with this bait and switch company. Do they even update their phones? I remember of the P7000 people who got burned by these swindlers.
“we’ll start to make good phones!
…lol bazinga! Just kidding!
Stick with our overhyped poor products for the rest of our lives!”
LOL, have to agree this kind of played against them.
I have to say the P9000 is truly an impressive device! Mine arrived two days ago and I am currently using it. Thinner bezels than the LG G3 is really nice.
It is the first of the Elephone devices that truly impressed me. I also had the P2000 and still have a P8000 and Vowney Lite.
So let’s hope they actually start to move in the right direction!
Who cares about the camera in a Smartphone? To me it is a nice gadget for taking an occasional snapshot, but it cannot replace a proper camera.
At least they provide software updates for the camera.
By that logic who cares about any part of a smartphone:
Gaming will never replace an Xbox One, PC or PS4
Videos will never replace a TV
Music will never replace a HiFi system
and on and on we could go.
For many the camera is very important, including myself, I have a proper DSLR but it isn’t always practical to carry it around with me. When I need to take pictures on the go I need a good camera not the crap that Elephone has.
I guess your understanding, what the purpose of a smartphone is, differs from mine. A smartphone in my opinion is not there to replace any of the gadgets you named. To me a phone is first and foremost a communications device. Not so much for making actual phone calls anymore, but by messaging and synching calendars and such. Of course in addition providing access to the internet.
If as an added bonus I can have a decent camera, a good looking display and proper sound, sure, I take that, but I do not expect a phone to outdo any device built specifically for one purpose.
And I know, cameras are very important to smartphone users. I for one look for a good body to display ratio, processing power, weight and good battery life when it comes to phones. Like I wrote, I do welcome any additions, but they are not a priority.
You do realize you are in the minority on that? For most people a smartphone is replacing all of those devices, more people use their phone to take pictures than their digital cameras. More people play games on their phones then their dedicated systems. Those things might not be important to you but for many people they are and for Elephone to offer such a crappy camera is a huge negative for them.
I respect that opinion, but I will never watch an entire movie or even one episode of my favorite TV show on a 5.5″ device when I have a 52″ TV! Same applies for playing games. And listening to a stereo gives you a totally different sound experience than any speakers of a phone or headphones can give you. Just one word: bass! So, yes, I assume I am in the minority, but I don’t mind that! 😉
And let’s wait and see how the camera will turn out after the next update…
I agree to an extent but it’s hard to take my flat screen TV to the airport while waiting for a flight (I travel at least 2 days a week for business) , during those long layovers I need something to watch. As far as music it all depends on the phone/stereo, there are phones from brands like Vivo that have better sound (thanks to dedicated HiFi chips) than many stereos out there. Paired with a really good set of headphones a Vivo delivers some of the best sound regardless of platform.
