Sources in the know have released an image of the Huawei P9 and its dual camera design boasting the Leica branding.
Back in February it was announced that Huawei would be working with Leica in the future, the news came as a great surprise to many as Leica are well-regarded in the camera industry for offering some of the best lens and camera software in the business.
Rumours soon told that the dual camera design of the Huawei P9 would benefit from Leica input, and now a leaked image seems to confirm those suggestions.
Gizchina News of the week
The photo shows the rear of the Huawei P9 (which we have seen in numerous leaks already) but this time with Leica decals too.
We can also see from the rear that the P9 will come in gold or silver, and we once again see areas for the laser focus and dual LED flash.
The Huawei P9 is set to launch this month in numerous guises, the top of the range version running this dual camera design, 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080 display, up to 4GB RAM, and a Kirin 950 chipset. There is also a Huawei P9 Lite rumoured to come but without the dual camera design and an Huawei P9 Max too.
All phones are expected to launch at an April 6th event. Stay tuned for details.
Andi, do you know that Firefox started reporting gizchina as a phishing site? Maybe you need to do something here?
i thought i was the only one that was going through this
I got the same warning using Google chrome.
Chrome as well over here as of today. On all GizChina pages.
Probably be the same price as the P8 when it launched which was around $549-649 depending on the version.
Most leaks say it will be 5.2 but I am not so sure because Huawei is one company that has never stuck to one size for it’s flagships. P6 was 4.7, P7 was 5.0 and P8 was 5.2. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is 5.5.
Is there much of a difference between a 5.2″ and a 5.5″ ?
The only reason I ask is that i’m scared if I go for a 5.5″, I may never use anything smaller ?
It will take you less than a day to get used to the size difference.
Even if I go back to smaller in the future ?
Yea I routinely switch between a 5.5 and 5 inch phone really don’t notice the size difference that much. Only time I notice it is when I watch a video or play a game, I do tend to miss the extra screen real estate, but not enough to be a major complaint.
Ok fine, thats reassuring 🙂
People are often scared of phones above 5 inches but it’s really not that hard to get used to, you’ll probably end up preferring the larger screen once you use it.
I’m sure of that, if going back and forth between a 5″ & 5.5″ is not a problem then thats fine.
After all the Leica news sofar, I am very interested in the camera software that the P9 will use. ie. will there be an answer for low light conditions.
The factory version leaked earlier wasn’t a good looker .
But its shaping to be the final one , its looking better than before.
But the lens says f2.2 , it would have been better to see 1.8,1.9..
Lets see how it performs .
Hi Zami, the information on the back states far more. Sofar the discussion on this website has always gone about the sensor. Which doesn’t say everything. Now, Leica indicates it is using a wide angle lens of 27mm, an aperture of F2.2, and the ice on the cake it is an ASPH (meaning an aspherical lens). In plain English, the lens can correct certain flaws in the image. And that’s very interesting. For the photo guy’s among us, now it is getting interesting. On the other hand this info might result in a higher price.
