UMi have just published a public statement on their community forums with formal apology for delays in deliveries of their new handset UMi Touch. Clearly not something they wanted, but at least not burying their head in the sand.
Its nothing new under the chinese sun though, we can remember even the major players having similar problems like relasease of Xiaomi 2 in 2012 or Meizu PRO 5 just last year. Foreseen and unforseen circumstances aside, seems that UMi are taking it seriously and promise filling up resellers stocks starting next week so the presale orders should be sorted out by 12th April. So the long wait for the UMi Touch phone should be over soon.
Here is the full official statement:

Forgot to mention same happened with Umi Zero, that’s why I changed my order last year.
UMI is frauding vendor . Avoid them. No returns of UMI Zero model were accepted then found dirty tricks with hardware and software from UMI.
UMI really have problem with quality, they just don’t consider it as something.
What they are after is producing scrap.
The only umi phone that had real specs is the emax mini, because they simply stole TCL’s phone and wrote umi on it
People have such short term memories… UMI X2 fiasco in India is still fresh as ever…

Here’s a bit of advice UMi: stop with the stupid and pointless comparison videos to other phones (iPhone) and instead start focusing only on your phones. It won’t help your production issues but it will do wonders to your image.
