Chuwi Hi12 scored some major success during the past weeks, mainly due to the superior build quality and still pretty unusual 3:2 display aspect ratio. Now the 2in1 tablet will be even more flexible and desirable with the upcoming dualboot version.
Hardware is staying exactly the same, but that’s not a bad thing for sure, because especially the excellent 12-inch screen with 2160 x 1440 resolution and the aforementioned 3:2 aspect ratio is a pure joy to watch. Reasonable Intel Atom X5-Z8300 processor paired with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of storage doesn’t hurt either and the full metal unibody build with two full sized USB ports (one is USB 3.0) and 11000 mAh battery are cherries on the top.
Gizchina News of the week
Now with the dualboot version we will have access to Windows 10 / Android 5.1 combo, so both productivity and leisure will be rejoicing. What needs to be mentioned is the optional keyboard dock, which in my eyes isn’t as much optional as it is mandatory, offering good keyboard and another two full sized USB ports.
Basic version of Chuwi Hi12 is currently sold for about 250$ at various reseller websites and the dualboot version is expected to be priced more or less exactly the same.
This has been out a few weeks now, only the keyboard is missing. It seems the forums are full of people with issues with the Chuwi hi12 model in general and one probably best avoided as there are plenty of others to choose from.
Same issues seem to be present on hi8 and hi10.
If you search for chuwi on YouTube you’ll find hundreds of videos named chuwi problem/not working/proof/etc.
That’s a real shame because the bablets seem perfect on paper and the keyboard’s hinge mecanism seems pretty strong in the long run.
I still have hopes for the hibook but after browsing their forum I won’t hold my breath… ☺
Yeah they’re many videos for Chuwi vi8 not working also, but it still works fine for many other people. You know it might works good for 1000 people and all is silent, but if 5-10 others are having problems they’re bringing noise to the sky. What are the Hi12 problems currently?
As I’ve said before, hardware is good but software is still shitty. So stay away from Chinese tablets for the mean time.
What is shitty in Lollipop 5.1? I have the Chuwi vi8 Super with the old KitKat and Win10 and still like it.
I’d like to see a variant of this using cherry z8700.
