Good news just came through for all the fans of the famous CyanogenMod, because UMI has just officially announced development of the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow based CM13 for their UMI Touch model.
It’s not the time to pop the champagne yet though, because even in the press release itself they are not so optimistic about the expected time frame of the actual CM release. Porting to Mediatek and difficulties with the source code have been cited as the main obstacles, but they are optimistic enough to claim that UMI Touch is going to be the first Mediatek phone ever succeeding in that feat.

In general UMI is not slacking with software updates and since its March release the Touch model has already received two new OTA firmwares. Marshmallow-based CyanogenMod OS13 if of course a different kind of an animal and a significant challenge, but fortune favors the bold so wishing all the best to the UMI engineers.
Imho it will be same story as with Umi Emax (the Lolipop promises) … hope I will be wrong as I have ordered Touch already.
This is not the first time that they do CM, CM system but never released, hope this is not just marketing.
When Lenovo release the complete kernel drivers for VibeUI based on Android 6.0 and this will happen soon then K3 Note would be the first. 😉

The good news, Chinese mobile phone manufacturers began to focus on software, ulefone, Umi is a good representative.
Unlike some local Chinese smartphone companies, UMi seems to be spending some time developing the ROMs for its new devices. They have release two FOTA, since they released the UMI Touch.
I received my Umi Touch last Friday, it’s It looks fabulous, more beautiful than I expected and the battery life is pretty long. this is my second Umi Phone, my first umi phone is UMI HAMMER S, and I’m so satisfied.
I have a Umi Touch, I trust Umi, I believe they won’t discard us.
I also updated the newest FOTA in my Umi touch, camera is better, fingerprint is more sensitive, umi is a trustworthy company.

this sounded interesting as a CM fan, until I saw the fake reviews below from Umi employees…now not so interested. Shady company to do that.

Jiayu S3, on development by a group of good developers in partnership with Jiayu.de, they already working on it for S3 and S3+ (read MT6753 minus version :P)
But doesn’t really matter who’s going to realease it first, but the stability is what counts for the end user.
Positive UMI comments below, with 1-3 minutes difference! Pick one.

I see that the UMI Touch weighs 190 grams, a brick compared to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 at only 164 grams – these phones are a good comparison in the sense that they both have 4000 mAh batteries which may lead to greater weight.
