The wait is finally over! Vernee played hard to get for quite some time and just kept sending new about the Thor model, but finally we have in hand first pics of the flagship Vernee Apollo.
We even got some pretty decent news about the design of the phone, because seems like Apollo will have full metal body and the back should be from titanium alloy and just 2 mm thin.
Thats indeed pretty rad news but lets sum up the previously known specs of Vernee Apollo. 2K resolution 5.5-inch display, Mediatek Helio X20 with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage, rear 21 Mpix cam with Sony IMX230 sensor and 8 Mpix selfie front cam. Allegedly also 3D Force Touch, USB Type-C port and fingerprint scanner.
Gizchina News of the week
Let’s get back to the full metal body of the phone. Vernee claims that the back cover will be harder and tougher than its normal with usual metal alloys. That’s not really surprising, because titanium itself is extremely hard and resistant to corrosion even in saltwater and is common ingredient in many anti-corrosion alloys. The only problem is that it’s very pricy and that leaves a question mark if Vernee really used titanium alloy for the Apollo back cover. because the first price estimation is in the ballpark of 399.99$.
No matter what, you can check out the first pics of Vernee Apollo and see for yourself the back of the phone with the alleged titanium alloy cover.
If the add decent size battery, this might be very interesting.
if this was one CENT below $300 , it would caused havoc in the market !
Hopefully the front is not with huge bezels and/or huge black bands. And ofc no white plastic on the front, that just doesn’t work with a titanium back.
I’m intrigued as the new P9 looks like having bigger than average black bezels all around… I don’t know, but a bit of a simple on a $650+ phone.
Looks like they were inspired by HTC. Worked for Apple why not them.
Like ur comment mate. Tired of “inspired by Apple” comment that people make at every phone that looks apple-ish/HTCish.
Every phone that comes out now the Pro Apple Media and the iSheep proclaim it to be a clone of the iPhone. Even the new Meizu Pro 6 that looks nothing like any of Apple’s models.
As I use to say, “apple is so ahead of its time that invent things years after someone else discovers them” ?
So some day in future we will hear that Apple discovered America. Christopher Columbus must be worried in his grave now. 😉
Exactly, and seeing how America is their bigger market, it won’t take long… As i am italian, i can confirm that that day will be a bad one for our national pride ?
With reasonable storage / RAM size and touch buttons beneath the display (instead of retarded onscreen bullshit), this could have been an interesting smartphone
You can’t leave it out yet as it is not out yet, I hope for double options.
is anyone here from china? I need to register to baidu so I can download some roms. It requires Chinese phone number.
I’m downloading from baidu without account just fine. All you need is the desktop app of Baidu.
can you send me a link?

I can only hope that they won’t cut back the 6gbRam as it was the biggest attention draw it had. If they don’t perform as said in this aspect then they are off my book. Better options elsewhere (none perfect, nonetheless) and yes ZOPO I’m looking at you.
i really want to see a zopo review :/ can anyone get a unit or something..
Yup. They seem to be neglecting the device. I have not seen anyone any ware reviewing one. It makes me think the reviewers are all biased to bigger brands.
That’s up to Zopo to actually send a review unit. I think they are the ones neglecting it at the moment. So far Andi’s first experience with Speed 8 wasn’t good, so far it will be a big disappointment considering the price.
Fair enough , got caught up in the hype, sorry for the drama.
Not reviewers’ fault, nor zopo’s to be fair: they clearly said that the unit at the stand back than was more of a dummy than anything else, and that the actual product will be shipped in april/may… People thought “they launched the phone in January, so it will be shipped soon after”, but it was never stated anywhere!
I got caught up in the hype, sorry for the drama.
It happened to me too until I realized how things are… Now I’m just here, patiently waiting for the phone, and even waiting further to see a stable rom!
I’m holding the Mate 8 in my hand, and let’s just say I’m getting some serious dejavu.
I keep saying to myself 6gbRam… And 2K (wich you all know I like) and almost perfect size screen at 5.5″.
How you finding the mate 8? Poor camera puts me off Huawei phones in general.
Poor software more like;)
EmUI gets more hate than it deserves IMO.
That’s cool.
They probably improved it, but I was using the Mate 7 for half a year and I just don’t like it…
Camera isn’t really poor, but it’s definitely not optimal considering there price.
With Android reaching a point where almost all needed or missing features are being offered in one way or another, like going after a launcher in GooGle Play store,
…I think it is safe to say that regarding to FLAGSHIP phones this year they NEED TO shine in every aspect to succeed in important way.
I mean past usual flagships now have had to bring all bells and whistles possible in order to capture market share. I’m pretty sure even the next IPhone will bring a bunch of stuff to lure even further their isheeps (sorry I had to add the joke, iphones are good in my books)
So as I said before all new comers should take advice: 2 models a track phone (Thor) and a. Flagship, in this case this APOLLO…
…And then this FLAGSHIPS have to be by all means FLAGSHIPS, ALL IN FEATURED.
That kept Meizu pro 6 from being a off the door success failing the battery size (on paper) and the NOW, supposedly, possible 6gbRAM, and maybe offering sapphire lenses for the camera. Those 3 could have added $50 dollars to the final price, but I think it would have secured major success …

I prefer plastic back if it means having NFC. More features the better over looks.
Perfect
See? I told you guys…While this is priced at $400 there is no way that the 4gb version to retail at $200 as some previous articles were suggesting.. lmao. Minimum $280 for the Apollo Lite.. 🙁
more likely we will miss out that titanium alloy at 200$ … Ram is cheap…
but we still have no ideas about Apollo Lite back cover, what kind of material they gonna use. don’t be upset so early

I only know that it is 6GB RAM.

you can believe a unknown brand smartphone equip with such parameter,
but you can’t believe Vivo Xplay5? whose only disadvantage is the CPU, qualcomm snapdragon 652, i never heard of this company in China, i am curious that if they can do the mass production, or this is just a pilot production?
