Xiaomi Mi 5: Will it bend? (have your say!)

xiaomi mi5 unboxing

Xiaomi took its own time coming out with the Mi 5. The general consensus is that its a phone great to hold in the hand with blazing fast performance, while the software can be buggy sometimes.

Today we came across something rather interesting that has to do with the build of the Mi 5. Someone just decided to put the phone through the (in)famous Bend Test, and the results are for you to see.

There’s something interesting I’d you to do here. Before watching the video, leave a comment below with what you think — ‘yes’, if you think it’ll break, and ‘no’ if you think it’ll live through the test.

Keep in mind, the bend test performed uses only one’s hands — no machinery involved.

The Mi 5 is Xiaomi’s first Snapdragon 820 phone. It comes in a few different configuration sets, that go up to 4GB RAM/128GB. You may want to read our review of the phone here.

I expect it to bend. Xiaomi’s devices use only 1 frame most of the time. The Nexus 6p had the same and was bendable with 2 hands. But I do think this way isn’t that good to test durability.

After seeing that, is that a device you would be happy to own??
Good test or not, the way that broke was way to easy if you ask me, as far as I’m concerned it is absolute rubbish.

Now I get that why they didn’t talk about stainless steel body after Mi4 ever.

Sigh… what a shame. The Mi4 is a much more durable phone. The frame on it is insanely strong… I have dropped this phone so much and still no screen cracks or major damage, and I don’t use a case. I tried bending it, and the phone will not bend…. hopefully the Xiaomi Max is built better…
