If you are a type of a person being satisfied by easy answers, then the answer to the question in the title is indeed pretty simple. Injections.
But that would be probably too shallow of an answer cos there and big differences in injection types and the Elephone engineers are using the so-called “nano-injection moulding”. That sounds pretty complex and sophisticated, but in general that this technology is used for the creation of both the plastic components and the metal alloy components.
Gizchina News of the week
It’s basically a technique, where the specific liquid heated by the induction is injected into somewhat frozen mould and it cools and hardens. Thus creating very precise metal parts and components. This technology has been used also in the process of making the Elephone S3 and the company is admitting very significant rise in the production cost (allegedly up by 500%) of some particular components. But it adds majorly to the general sturdiness, durability and finesse of the device so it’s all worth it.
The Elephone S3 is not going to dazzle too much with its specs, but the design is a completely different animal and we can expect to have quite a looker on our hands with its arrival. In the meantime you can check the aforementioned process documented on the official video.
Is anyone going to even buy this phone? I’m sick of waiting for x20, x25 based phones so maybe some people will buy into older technology.
duuuuuude me too its like all these x20s are coming out Q3 or something, zoppo isnt even out yet lol
The Zopo Speed 8 is said to ship from China on the 28th of this month, being April. I’m seriously thinking of getting it as it’s one of the only frontline phones to have NFC. I’m really interesting in getting the Vernee Apollo, or the Doogee F7 Pro but they haven’t yet locked down their specs. The LeEco 2 Mac or Pro are another series to watch but I think the price will blow out once it hits the market. There’s also the Oukitel K6000 Premium had the specs but now is said to be released in October.
As balcobomber25 puts it the Meizu Pro 6 just hit. Others are next month.
With the Pro 6 just launched, I would give it 1-3 months and then the market will be flooded with X20 and X25 devices.
So what would you buy now if you needed a device before june (like me) for max. 300€?
If I had a max budget of 300euro? That is a good question. My Good friend MaxPower has been less than impressed with his Redmi Note 3 Pro, not sure I personally would get that. I would probably get my current phone (assuming I didn’t already have it) the Meizu MX5. But that’s just me. What specifically do you want in a phone?
hm…I want a smooth user experience (minimum 3gb ram).
[having read that the Meizu M3 note had hiccups/lags in a test, does bother me, otherwise that phone could have been a possible option]
I use it for web browsing and taking photos, I don’t game much on it.
Battery should obviously last 1 day, better 1.5 days.
Design-wise I really like the Huawei Mate S and Mate 8 devices.
I’ve searched for a few hours and every phone has a let down.
LG G4 motherboard problems.
Nexus 5X only 2 GB ram
Xiaomi locked bootloader and maybe you get rejected
Zuk Z2 Pro would be nice but who knows when it is really available, they also said that they wont sell it in Europe, which means no direct selling and again resellers fees for customer
See on that article on the bottom they updated it http://www.engadget.com/2016/04/21/zuk-z2-pro-lenovo/ “Lenovo’s PR rep just reached out to say that the Z2 Pro is just for China and “will not be for sale in EMEA.”
The Z2 Pro is just for China, but that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to buy it on a reseller and use it in your country. A lot of Meizu phones are just for China too.
The first X25 phone is finally on the market, Meizu Pro 6 went on sale this week. It seems Mediatek wanted them to be the launch device for the X20/25 platform, it makes sense given that Mediatek invested in Meizu awhile back. They were also the first to launch a MT6750 (M3) phone and my guess is they will be the first to launch a Helio P20 phone with the MX6/Metal 2.
Several were announced before the Meizu but have yet to go on sale. Meizu is becoming the new launch platform for Mediatek.
Meizu do have some shockingly cheap items, but their PRO range aren’t so cheap. I don’t also like their restrictive iterations of Android.
dont want to jynx anything i just have a feeling majority of the p20 and x20 will be out in Q1 2017 i hope im wrong, so when will x30 be out mid 2017??
I think the X20 will be very similar to the X10. The first X10 phones didn’t come out until around June of last year, Mx5 was one of the first. After that we saw this chip pretty much take over the midrange segment.
I agree with you. Its a shame we have to wait this long. It seems like most companies are following the same pattern. Introduce a flagship to reach the market half a year later and in the meantime pump out more crap with obsolete specs. And of course in Elephone case, also spam with annoying adverts every day. Living in Europe with weird LTE frequencies doesnt help either.
so Me, E8hfff, and the homie, joel adams(zoppo speed 8) are waiting on x20/25 devices, meanwhile balco, max power, muhammad, mattD,Andi and everyone else on gizchina are waiting on mtk 6580 phones with 1gb of ram running jelly bean 😛
I am waiting on good X20/25 and P10 devices from reliable brands that actually release products and lie to customers. I would rather use a 6580 phone than something from Elecrap.
lol XD speaking of p10 going on a single review, the meizu m3 note when playing 3d games stutters wuite alot i dont know if its the soc but i was suprised to see that from meizu but then again all brands have hiccups in one shape or form
It will be interesting to see what other reviews of the P10 show, then we will know if it is the chip itself or a firmware issue. The Gionee S8 with a P10 is launching this month and should be reviewed soon.
Do keep in mind that the Mali 860MP2 is not a huge upgrade over the 760MP2 found in MT6752.
Performance should be up by 20-25%, but that’s not saying much.
Don`t expect it to come close to SD650 in terms of GPU performance, but it will double the 6753 and SD615 performance, so that is not bad at all.
I don’t expect it to be anywhere near the 650. That is a chip in a class all itself.
Unfortunately it won’t be on this site as they have an aversion to reviewing Gionee phones!
They do a hands on and then promise a review that never comes. Luckily other sites review nearly every phone for us.
I fingers crossed that Meizu as well as Zuk will launch a “MAX” version of the “” PRO 6″” and the “”Z2 PRO”” …
Both with 2K 5.7″ screens and +4000mah Batteries, and in meizu’s case 6gbRam just for the sake of it…
The ZUK Z2 PRO MAX at $500
The Meizu 6 PRO also at $500
Then I would just flip a coin… Hehehe
For Zuk Z2 Pro I just found this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZ2u0RkzBLQ . And in some way it shows they went Elephone’s way (in matter of quality build).
