Are we getting Meizu MX6 in June at the earliest ?

April has been a pretty busy month for Meizu this year, because they managed to launch three new phone models in a scope of just 20 days. Everybody can find something optimal in the lineup, M3 for the budget segment, more midrange oriented M3 Note and Pro 6 for the highend. But how about the MX line, are we going to see the new Meizu MX6 anytime soon if ever ?

According to the latest micro-blogging posts of chinese analysts the Meizu MX6 is definitely real and in the making, but the release is planned somewhere “in the second half of the year”. So at the earliest we can expect the phone to surface in late June or rather July, but the wait could be even significantly lower.

The big question reamins though, where will the MX6 model slot into the lineup. The Pro 6 model being a kind of a disappointment hardware-wise considering the premium price tag the MX6 can’t get nearly the same hardware, because it could cannibalize the flagship sales. Or are we going to see a full reversal and the MX once again on the top instead of the Pro ? Time will tell.

  All those new device did take too long for me. Guess what I did in the end? Paid a bit more but a good offer for a Huawei Mate 8. (I was already used to 6 inch with the Nexus 6)

  I’m hoping for them to have lost logic and blow a MX6 ON FULL machine. Either way MTK P20 or X25 the mix should be like:
  Screen to 2K and at 5.7″
  4000mah+ battery
  6gbRAM (JUST TO BRAG)
  HI-FI something
  That would do it nice for me. Maybe the GPU could do with some more cores like a mp6 mp8 arrangement or who knows but something.

    I wouldn’t hold my breath for that lol. Would be nice but I just don’t see it knowing meizu. They aren’t a company that chases the spec wars and they are pretty much all in on MTK chips.

At that other GSMARE…COM PAGE THAT phone HUAWEI MATE 9 is being talked about dual 20mpx camera, bla bla bla 960 SoC, 6gbRAM , 4000+mah battery etc etc etc… It seems it will have all we need at a really expensive price jejeje BTU just a rumor by now

They should take LeEco 2 like specs, add a curved(Edge) screen and then sell it at some 200-230$. If anyone does that it would be hilarious to see the faces of their competitors.
Then they can try to preempt Apple and do glass all around (no external metal frame) with curved in high end ,just in case Apple does that in 2017.

Meizu mx4 > meizu mx4 pro > meizu mx5 > meizu pro 5 > meizu pro 6 … As pro 6 launched before mx6 , I think reversal roadmap , but the price tag of pro 6 not make any sense to me. There is something wrong , they should follow Samsung. People still need 5.7 / 5.5 flagship devices, and also a max line (phablet 6 inch ). If they keep releasing devices for all ages then they will be the next Samsung.

To be honest at this stage the MX6 is pretty much DOA. It wont be higher speced than the pro 6 and will basically be a M3 note with a slightly better camera and cpu, and average perfromance, worse than SD652 for sure. The annoying thing for me is after seeing some in depth reviews, exactly as expected the pro 6 has not really delivered. Low light photography is poor as expected due to lack of OIS, refocussing issues in video and video shaking like crazy again cos of lack of OIS, even the mi5 crushes it. Also frame rates dropping like crazy next to the SD820 devices in benchmarks especially in gaming, the X25 really struggling, so we are left with another missed opportunity by Meizu. Its very frustrating really as love the pro 6 hardware and still want to buy but it doest stack up next to the likes of the Zuk Z2 and LeEco and even Mi5 on paper and almost certainly in real life performance but cant justify pissing money away on inferior products when teh comptetition is so strong. Although I would still take it over a mi5 just because MIUI is so bad and it is probably better built. Just dont understand meizus strategy this year, just seems they have almost given up on the high end of the market. These products simply are not competitive and they are wasting time putting resources into gimmick features like 3d press that no one cares about really. Both the MX6 and Pro 6 should have been competitively priced and speced top end handsets with super strong real world performance, as it stands they are/will not be and they have missed their chance to really show they can compete with other phone manufacturers at the very highest level.

  If you had the choice between ZUK Z2 Pro & Meizu Pro 6 – which would you choose ?

    Well depends. On paper the Z2 pro is the better phone. But the thing is with the Z2 is that it will come in two software options. Zuks proprietary android skin for domestic version and international version with and cyanogen OS. How they both perform remains to be seen. Going to have see how reviews fare. Annoyingly I love Meizus Flyme OS and teh Pro 6 design but if the reviews come back favourable the Z2 is almost certainly the better purchase as it is much better value spec wise.

      Fair enough. The Z2 to me sounds too good to be true, When the reviews come out i’ll get back to you, for advice. I wish the Pro 6 had had a 3000 mAh battery instead of 2560 mAh and OIS as well. I also hope that FlyMe gets updated to Marshmallow 6.0 in the near future.

        Yeah, well the pro 6 does ship with Marshmallow. I agree though, my biggest problems with the pro 6 is the lack of OIS and low aperture lens, battery was disappointing too. I could have got over the weaker cpu and other shortcomings if the camera had been able to rival S7/G5 but it cant and can only rival mi5 on stills in bright light. Yeah we will have to see with the ZUK, i agree it almost seems to good to be true.

        Possibly. I’m not interested in OnePlus at the moment, but maybe in the future. The only other phone that may interest is Oppo Find 9.

    What i meant was OIS would have helped low light photography with the sensor / lens config they were using. If they had used a sensor with larger pixels like the nexus p of course low light would have been improved but they didn’t. Also doesn’t detract from the fact the video on the pro 6 is looking weak and shaking all over the place with refocussing problems. In the comparisons I saw the S7, G5 and Mi5 all crushed it in low light and video. The only area the pro 6 fared OK was in well lit environments and even then I wouldn’t say it outperformed them and lets not forget the S7 beats out the mi5 in almost all tests. Weather build is better than s7 is highly debatable, although id imagine it is better than mi5 after bendgate. I dont only mean benchmarksthough, from what ive seen, game play seems to be inferior to SD820 devices. Anyway as I say still baffled by meizus strategy, expected more.

      The S7, G5 and Mi5 doing better in low light isnt because of OIS or even the sensor used, it is because they use a lower aperture. OIS is independent of the sensor, it is part of the lens apparatus, it could have the same sensor as the Mi5 or S7 that wouldn’t guarantee it OIS. They are all separate components.

        yes but chances are if meizu had included OIS and it was decently implemented you would be able to to grab better images in situations where they wouldn’t normally have been able to handhold a blur-free shot. Low light, close ups etc. The benefits would have also been very noticable in video capture too, and we would have seen smooth video capture accross the board. With meizu’s sensor choice and pedigree I don’t see how the inclusion of OIS could not have been a good thing. Incidentally was actually reading a pretty praisewaorthy Smartisan T2 review the other day, seems like a very nice device. Similar price to the pro 6 but runs snapdragon 808.

        I am not saying it wouldn’t be a good thing but simply adding OIS doesn’t mean better low light shots. My entire problem was with your premise of “expect it to perform bad because it didn’t have OIS.”. Meizu chose a sensor they are familiar with, a sensor they know works well with their software, Xiaomi used a brand new sensor and has had nothing but problems with it. The Mi5 still needs a lot of optimization for the camera, one of the the things that can happen when companies use a new sensor.
        Personally I am leaning more and more towards the Zuk Z2 everyday but I still think the Pro 6 is a very good phone.
