Xiaomi Mi Max Specifications, Features & Pricing

The Xiaomi Mi Max was announced today, i.e., on 10th May 2016 in China alongside MIUI 8.

The phone is the first device with a screen between 6 and 7 inches from Xiaomi. In other words, it’s the first phablet from the Beijing based phone maker.

Let’s take a look at the specifications.

Xiaomi Mi Max Pricing & Availability

The Mi Max will go on its first sale on 17th May in China. The phone has three variants with varying storages and RAM, take a look below:

3GB RAM/32GB, Snapdragon 650: 1499 Yuan / $230
3GB RAM/64GB, Snapdragon 652: 1699 Yuan / $260
4GB RAM/128GB, Snapdragon 652: 1999 Yuan / $306

There’s no word on a launch in other markets as of now.

The specifications suggest that the Mi Max is not very different from the Redmi Note 3 (Pro), with the exception, of course, of the added RAM.

So does multi-language stand for Chinese & English? Because that how it usually works for other Chinese companies.

  For MIUI, the Chinese version contains Chinese & English. The multi-language contains a lot of other languages – French, Spanish, German etc.

Is there any gorilla glass? i doubt, any difference between 650 and 652? Well let’s wait and see some bunch of review than see if it’s worth or not!

  Difference is there when you task switch between heavy apps or games as they stay on same big quad cluster (no trade migration), their is no difference in using individual apps like browser (at least until Servo arives).

Capacitice buttons are not backlight, black border arround the screen, the build quality is not that good same as redmi note 3….
290$ for the basic version. It’s redmi note 3 pro with 6.4 inch. Stupid

  Agreed. Although it still looks like a good phone for the price, the redmi note 3 pro is a better deal.
  If it had a slightly higher res screen, USB type-C or something else then I would be tempted, but as it stands, it’s too similar to the redmi note 3 pro.

  They just upped the screen by 1″, added SD652 to the higher versions and added more storage, that’s it.

The leaks were much worse, but still… I would say this is just alright, nothing amazing.
The good thing from their side is that they don’t have much competition on this segment.
I already made a mistake with the RN3 Pro, so I’ll pass.

    Several bugs on the software, fingerprint scanner doesn’t work the majority of the times, very dim display (auto brightness is a joke)

      That’s a shame, Xiaomi seems to be losing the track, Meizu seems to, even being on this price class with Metal, M3 Note, be doing a better job.

        Well, considering that they haven’t released the source the AOSP ROM is based on the original kernel which is the place where all the problems have their roots.
        Without the sources you can only get a custom ROM with the original kernel and a bunch of APKs.
        Sometimes you get a generic kernel that works even worse.
        It’s not MIUI which has been worked very well on other devices.
        It’s Lollipop and the kernel of this RN3.
        Today I’ve got an update and the changelog shows that they have been fixed all the bugs I was experiencing.
        Still have to test it, I’ll keep everybody updated.

        Agree, hate miui. It’s so much slower than CM and AOSP and even Vibe! Also a huge ram hog and tend to lags MUCH. It’s nice just for theming.

      I can take several software bugs in MIUI, nothing unexpected… How’s the battery life? Is it that good in real life usage? I still want to buy this phone replacing my K3 Note. May be you can sell it to me as you don’t like it. 😀

        I wouldn’t sell it to you because the display has few scratches already.

        Battery life is not good, it’s insane!
        Seriously, this battery is something I want to have on every phone I’ll own next.
        I can go through 2 days with heavy usage with the display set to 100% bright

        It’s nice to hear that the battery is indeed a monster. It has dragon trail screen protection, it’s delivering ~80% of the protection of GG. It’s very good, I can’t believe you managed to scratch it. 😛

  Ok, in addition to my earlier post..I won’t call it stupid, but lazy- they just upped the screen by 1″, added SD652 to the higher versions and added more storage, that’s it. Sometimes this is enough (it’s like an iPhone strategy lol) but when you only make the things better not worse.

It’s very good, I can’t believe you managed to scratch it. 😛 Also you mentioned that the fingerprint scanner doesn’t work most of the time, but note that this is their 1st phone with fingerprint scanner at all so it’s not unusual problems to appear.

The base one with S652 doesn’t sound bad for the price all do its not for me, 6.4“ is way too big for me to handle. Would like to see successor of NR3 Pro with let’s say S652, 5.2″ FHD Super Amoled & better build & suport for similar price.
