First batches of the new Vernee Thor have already arrived at their destinations so Vernee is really trying hard to be on schedule. And already showing some customer support activity in form of the first firmware update, which should be already available via OTA.
Gizchina News of the week
What are the main improvements in the new firmware ? For starters major optimaltization of the wallpapers on the lockscreen, speed improvements for the fingerprint scanner, dual SIM standby mode improvements and fixing the slight overheating of the phone during charging, Few more tweaks and new functions have been also added so you can check out the Vernee official forums for the full list or to voice your own concerns there.
If you don’t know how to update the Thor then nothing easier than to just check out the following screenshots with the guide.
Uhmmm… Promising.
I don’t care for lower specification devices, but this is a good indicator of what migth come with the full featured APOLLO…
Will keep fingers crossed.
Short list, as of now:
1. ZUK Z2 PRO (MAX ( MAX= 5.7″ screen))
2. HUAWEI HONOR V8
3. OP3 (IF ANY GOOD)
4. VERNEE APOLLO FULL FEATURED
5. GIONE ELIFE E9 (MY FAVOURITE IF EVER TO BE PRODUCED (MORE SO IF BLU MAKES A REVRANDED VERSION OF IT))
CHEERS
Because the 1 was good, innovative and cheap.
the 2 came out that way(not so good) because they spent resources making an almost useful SD810 phone.
This year they can concentrate on making a great phone without worrying about the SoC.
I’m expecting US LTE bands (or at least few of them like the OP1)
Fast charge again (maybe VOOC) NFC and a good camera.
No prejudices, the problem is that they haven’t come out with a good true flahship yet.
If one day they will provide one, and they will build a good support community (even a freaking forum with a moderator) then we can discuss about it.
As you can see I haven’t even mention the price, they don’t have to be as cheap as the big ones as long they will bring some solid stuff without the BS of preorders…
i love the Red P9000 teasers but im expecting the same shenanigans again :/
so sad .. Elephone
The vowney was a great phone on paper too, but then we all know what happened
Problem is, the leaked photos are not promising. They look like old HTC style design, single led flash, and a very outdated front design. I haven’t yet ordered my mi5 due to zuk breaking the game with their z2 pro, and I am extremely optimistic about oneplus 3, but worried they will fail us for big long time this time.
I just wonder about the screen size and design.
My guess is that they will stay with 5.5″ rather than going to 5.2″ like many are doing lately.
But I really don’t have anything concrete to back it up, it simply came from my guts lol.
Design wise I think we won’t see much innovation from them, but again, that came from my guts too.
I think so too. A pity, I found that perfect screen size for me is 5.2″. The design from leaked photos is not impressive, but maybe it looks better in real live.
what do you mean by
“the 2 came out that way(not so good) because they spent resources making an almost useful SD810 phone.”
and
“This year they can concentrate on making a great phone without worrying about the SoC.”
can you elaborate ?
First sentence:
The second OnePlus was not so innovative or cutting edge compared to other “regular” flagships that we usually see, and OPO is a good competitor at external markets, but it wasn’t appealing compared to others. The first One was very cheap for that moment, and offered the best of technology at that time. And in the case of 2 they had to spent a long time trying to overpass the 810 problems.
This year they don’t have problems with the SoC, the 820 is working fine “out the box”, no risk of burning.
To the first question:
Back in time co-founder Carl Pei said that they did “numerous” things to alleviate the issues of the SD810 which included fixed to the dissipation system of the hardware, lowering the clock of the CPU of 200mhz, introducing a new scheduler to Android that controls which CPU cores are active and ensures that CPU cores adjacent to one another are only turned on when absolutely needed to keep performance up and lastly disabling fast charging technology.
Now, it’s obvious they were aware of the issues of the SoC and they spent money on it.
damn … they really did have their work cut out for them , courtesy of Qualmcomm
To the second question:
The SD820 seems running fine and doesn’t suffer of the problems of its predecessor.
For this reason they can shape the phone they way they want without worrying of the issues of the SD810.
so we expecting an EPIC $310 phone ?
Probably $329 like last year.
Hopefully epic like you said
Specs saying, I think, only think, it will feature 6GB of Ram in a “Pro” variant, one only spec that should be enough to impress western markets over their flagships, was quite what the OP1 made back in 2014. Rest, is just quit that invite system…
They won’t quit the invite system for many reasons.
That’s the way they keep with inventory, to control the demand, to stay within the price and to push their PRO version that brings more money into their pocket.
When you get the invite you can bet that it’s for the more expensive version.
I hate it, but I can’t really blame them for using it.
My short list as of now:
1.) ELEPHONE VOWNEY
2.)ELEPHONE P9000
3)ZAYDO PULSE
4HOMTOM HT5
5INEW U3W(MY FAVOURITE INEW PHONE)
CHEERS
The Vowney is a good phone for hardware but you have to consider Elephone more or less has discontinued it before and after its release.
Elephone is a BAD company, stay away!!
You forgot Cubot Dinosaur! I mean… You can say “I’ve got a dinosaur in my pants” and then extract it from your pocket… Priceless!
OK guys I think we need to get Hanson medication before he starts shooting people hahaha
Vernee Apollo for me. There support and dedication is striking. If the Apollo doesn’t have NFC then it’s a not go.
I would have purchased the LeTV 2 Pro but it doesn’t have NFC.
I’m interested in Elephone Vowney2 if they still are planning to release it, or the P9000 Edge. It all comes down to support though.
Ohh i never heard of a Vowney2 before would be interesting unless the 2 means 2 years waiting hahaha
I’m confident Oneplus won’t disappoint this year
You sure? How come? Still love my OPO 🙂

ELEPHONE… Really?
And at number 1?
OK…
