Ulefone models Future and Vienna (with the upcoming Android 6.0 Marshmallow update) are going to support an interesting function called Turbo download, which theoretically promises faster download speeds thanks to combining the Wi-Fi and 4G connections together.
How does it work? After you switch on turbo download in WiFi environment, the operating system will combine the bandwidth of WiFi and 4G (or 3G) while downloading a file over 20MB. In the mean time, a notification will appear to tell you the real-time downloading speed . For common web browsing or under 20MB downloading speed, only WiFi will work.
Gizchina News of the week
Sounds interesting, but sadly only on paper. Most of the mobile internet providers around the globe are implementing some sort of FUP (Fair User Policy) to limit the amount of downloading and in most cases it’s not very high. So such intense uncontrolled usage of the “Turbo” would burn through the date pretty quickly so personally i don’t see much viability for this kind of a function unless you are on fully unlimited data plan.
Ulefone made a promo video presenting the function so you can check it out below. And if you are not in the mood for the video you can always read our Ulefone Vienna first impressions article and the review will folllow soonish.
