Quick tell us which companies currently use Samsung SOC’s? If you said Samsung and Meizu then you would be right, but soon your answer will also include ZUK.
Yesterday rumours flared up about a new model from the Lenovo backed start-up named simply the ZUK Z2. As the Z2 Pro had already launched and recently gone on sale, it appears the new Z2 will be a mid-range smartphone with a lower than 2000 Yuan price point.
Gizchina News of the week
The teasers continue today with word from company execs that the ZUK Z2 will be a Samsung Exynos powered phone, in particular the Samsung Exynos 8890 chipset.
This is an interesting choice in some respects but from a consumer point of view (especially international buyers) it could mean that the Z2 won’t be compatible with your LTE networks.
At this point other details are thin on the ground, but a render of the phone shows a Type C USB, and 2.5D display on a phone which is quite similar in design to the Smartisan T2.
good choice in my opinion, wasnt there something that is better in that one compared to the 820? atleast i heard that in s7 reviews.
I think in some cases 820 variants seemed to be posting not as decent battery life as Exynos counterparts, although a whole lot of stuff I saw was ranting in forums and anecdotal at best. No idea what to expect, but the Exynos powered Pro 5 had really good performance and battery life. I don’t expect the newer Exynos to be a slouch at all.
So will it work with US LTE?
Not likely if the Pro 5 Exynos is any insight.
It all depends on ZUK. The Exynos-powered Galaxy S7 covers 15 FDD bands, including everything ATT + T-Mobile currently use. No CDMA, though.
If the camera is at least as good as on my nexus 5X it might get on my consider list.
