Cubot’s ‘fantastical’ Cubot S9 claims Snapdragon 823 in 6 colours

Dual camera’s 6GB RAM and a Snapdragon 823 are just a few claims Cubot is making about their Cubot S9 smartphone.

I’ll be honest when I say I haven’t been following the Cubot S9 rumours, but when this news rolled across my desk today I really couldn’t believe it.

For those of you have missed previous news, Cubot, the maker of such phones as the Cubot X16, Cubot Note S and Cubot X11 (all sub $100 phones) claims that it’s next phone could be something to take on the likes of Vivo, Oppo, OnePlus, Huawei and even Samsung!

This ‘fantastic’ device is called the Cubot S9 and the press material that the Chinese phone maker has released says the handset is going to have some killer tech including:

Dual rear cameras.
Snapdragon 823 chipset.
6GB RAM.
128GB memory.
6.5mm body.
A choice of 6 colours.

Of those 6 headline features I’m sure at least one of them is accurate (blue, gold, pink, silver and space gray incase you’re wondering). The rest of the claims just seem a little far fetched at this point, but who know?

It is just possible in China. If you have a little bit of infrastructure, you can order anything to be made for you. You don’t need your own factory for that. So I will believe that. Many brands around the world are making their phones from China with similar specs but put different names over it. All you have to do is to have proper marketing.

  But that would mean that they found a factory small enough to accept their order, but big enough to have Qualcomm as a supply chain partner…..

history of low end/mid end devices isnt a sound arguement, there is always other ways and politics involved
vernee a “new” company is already making love with mediatek and have a flaghsip in the works
and have we forgotten about XIAOMI AND HUAWEI werent they low end nobodies too
and remember this where something starts is immediately where something ends

  Companies, who release extreme value phone, usually do that to strenghten their brand and build fanbase for their next, more expensive phone.
  Huawei and OnePlus are examples of that. I would not be surprised if LeEco and Asus phones will become more expensive in few years too – they are clearly selling their phones with a low overcharge.

    but im talking about in the beginning huawei’s first “flagship” it wasnt a matter of their “NEXT” expensive phone it was their first and only and at that time it wasn’t value for money for huawei it was success/domination in the low end they turned their money well and made good deals

  Vernee are a new brand not a new company. In fact they are a very large OEM so their contacts were already in place.
  Xiaomi created by a group of millionaires and with backing from Qualcomm… Not really the same as Cubot.
  Huawei, a huge communications company who only recently started making phones with a ton of cash in the bank.
  Cubot a brand with no direction and no real customer base and also not likely to be prime partnership material for Qualcomm (who are very strict on who they allow to use their chips).

    i know vernee isnt a new company thats why i put it in quotations
    but what about there little collab with cheetah the app giant could there be weight in it behind the scenes
    and i wouldn’t say they have no direction since they have been focusing on low end phones and lets not forget cubot has used snapdragon before
    all im saying im optimistic, im just hopeful that this will be a rags to riches story

blue, gold, pink, silver and space gray, that’s 5, not 6.
So the only accurate headline isn’t even accurate ^^
BTW I dunno who will take a leap of faith and invest in a $400 Cubot phone.
SD823 + 6GB/128GB + 6.5mm probably can’t sell below.
That’s a pretty bold move for a brand like Cubot xD
Or they’re trying to draw attention like Elephraud…

Well Cubot phones have always been solid, when I’m looking for specific specs and I can’t find them with Xiaomi, Meizu, ZTE, and recently LeTV my next option is Cubot phones, since I know no major flaws will be present and the quality of the hardware will be at least above average.
Recently used the Cubot Note S for a couple of weeks and the only flaw I found was that the accelerator wasn’t that good, so automatic rotation was kind of a pain the first days but then I got used to move it fast from vertical to horizontal to get it working properly, but that was all, everything else was above my initial expectations, and the battery… 6 days of light usage with 1 hour of screen time each day, and 10 hours of screen time on a single sitting, with no battery saving bullshit like screen dimming, turning off bluetooth/wifi/location, etc.

I’ll believe it when I see it. The real specs are probably MT6753, Single 13mp camera and 3GB Ram.

+lastly the smartphone market is stagnating its super easier and cheaper to get “highend” specs today it should be more believable now than say 4 years ago
its possible they may not deliver but im optimistic

    First of all, that is not iPhone – that is iPod touch.
    Secondly, it has to do with design – if you blend camera and black plastic from the right side of the iPod, you get this new Cubot.

for once i hope all the previous history on this brand gets non-relevant and they do make this ***FLAGSHIP KILLER*** if ever..
i do have my hopes high that one day doogee will make their suppossed F7 power-specs into the T3 body.
