Remember THL? They now have a health check device up for crowdfunding!

Back in the MT6577 day, THL used to be a force to reckon with. With time, and lesser products on the market, popularity plummeted and the brand faded into darkness.

Just when we’d thought THL had joined the likes of iOcean and FAEA up there somewhere, news of the company’s new medical device got sent over.

The THL i007 is a medical device that can measure blood pressure and heart rate. Unlike the trend, the i007 isn’t a wearable but something you’ll have to carry around in a bag or pocket.

Gizchina News of the week

The i007 comes with a companion app of its own, which has cloud capabilities. This means that your health data can be accessible across devices and places, which does sound like a decent idea. The THL i007 gets a recommendation price of $79, and is expected to ship by August this year.

However, unlike other Chinese companies, THL have taken to Indiegogo to host their crowdfunding campaign. Interested parties can have a look here — the campaign needs some help getting to the $50,000 goal. 😉

THL actually released a phone earlier this year too, the T7. It wasn’t made by Ulefone, Elephone, UMi or Bluboo so it wasn’t covered by this site. But it was a pretty good budget phone:

    MT6753
3GB RAM/16GB ROM (plus SD support)
    5.5″ display
    4800mAh battery
    Fingerprint scanner
    Metal Frame

I bought one earlier this year because I have always been a THL fan. It was a great phone with some of the best battery life I have ever had in a phone. Fingerprint was fast and accurate (rear mounted). Cameras were good for the price range (THL usually has good cameras). Software was pretty much stock with some changed icons/menus. And for those in Europe it has Band 20 LTE. Overall for the $120 I paid it was an excellent phone.

I would go for the Redmi just because of the software difference. With Xiaomi you know you will get software updates monthly, with THL I haven’t received one yet.

I have the Thl T7 also, I suspect this will be their last outing as a phone producer. It’s a pity, always been a fan, the T11 I owned was a fave I owned.
