There has been a lot of talk and rumour about the Meizu MX6 and most importantly how it will differ from the Pro 6, could it me that the MX range are now Ubuntu only phones?
Looking a lot like the Pro 6, the Meizu MX5 has now been revealed in a series of leaks as being a Ubuntu running phone with 5.5-inch FHD display, and 10 core Helio X20 chipset.
Specifications of the phone also leaked include 3GB RAM, 32GB memory, 20.7 mega-pixel camera, 8 mega-pixel front camera, fingerprint scanner and a decent sized 4000mAh battery.
Pricing is also revealed in euros at 399 Euros, but at this time we don’t know when the phone will go on sale. We also don’t know if the MX6 will be released as an Ubuntu only phone or if an Android version will be revealed at a later date too. Watch this space.
wow that price would even be higher compared to the mx5..i can already tell that this phone wont be a success with 400€ for the 32gb version
like i can even get the pro 6 for less o.o
or is only the ubuntu version so expensive?
very very very very expensive. good luck meizu
Meizu are insane, they continue to waste time and resources with this failed ubuntu experiment that literally no one has any interest in to add insult to injury put delusional price tags on this garbage. Meanwhile they have comprehensively failed to produce any device this year that is anywhere near class leading in the the low end, mid range and high end categories while companies like Zuk and others embarrass them in both specs/price and real world performance. Always loved meizu but they seriously need to up their game as they are getting left behind by the other chinese manfacturers
There are around 30 million Ubuntu users worldwide and the demand has been strong for the Ubuntu phone among those users. BQ has struggled to keep it’s Ubuntu Phones in stock. You may have no interest in Ubuntu but there are millions out there that do. The platform isn’t for everybody but there is definitely a market out there. If Meizu wasn’t making money off of them they wouldn’t be selling them and they wouldn’t continue to release new models.
The only thing that doesn’t make sense about this is the price. There is little incentive to pay 399 euro for this when you can get the Pro 5 for cheaper.
