The OnePlus 3 is certainly heavy on specs with a hefty 6GB of RAM. However, the software that it’s currently shipping with has been known to not take full advantage of the hardware.
The issue was to be solved with the OxygenOS 3.2.0 update which actually started seeding to users in the past 12 hours or so. It has now been learnt that the update has since been pulled.
According to OnePlus, the OTA was pulled ‘due to some reports of issues while upgrading’. We don’t quite know what that means, but OnePlus 3 users will surely be left dejected.
Three of the most important fixes that the update brought with it included the addition of sRGB mode, GPS fixes, and the all-important RAM fixes. The full changelog of the update is as below:
Gizchina News of the week
- Enabled sRGB mode in developer options.
- Improved RAM management.
- Improved GPS performance.
- Enhanced audio playback quality.
- Updated custom icon packs.
- Fixed some issues with notifications.
- Improved camera quality/functionality.
- Fixed some issues in Gallery.
- Implemented latest Google security patches.
- Fixed bugs in Clock/Music apps.
There’s no word on when the update will be back live. In related news, the OnePlus 3 just got costlier for buyers in the UK.
Goes to show that you can`t put all that RAM in there with nothing to fill it.
Anyway OP3 is a great phone, and it should not stop buyers from getting it, only downside is that the battery life could be better.
You got one?
Well… a simple edit of build.prop fixed it even before 3.1.2 (or 3.1.3 — not to mention the current 3.2.0) came out.
I even set the limit a little bit higher than in 3.2.0 (default 32 — I set 42 which is a perfect balance for 1,5GB to be free at all times).
