The Xiaomi laptop saga looks to finally be coming to a final chapter with new purported images of the device showing a sleek alloy bodied portable PC.
If you have followed all the rumours (from way back when the Xiaomi Mi3 launched) then you will be well up on the fact that many of us believe Xiaomi will launch their own laptop.
Previously leaks from source in the industry had tipped the Xiaomi laptop as being an all alloy affair, with Intel chipset, and at one point there was even a rumour that Xiaomi would launch it’s own OS for it too! These rumours have since disappeared after Xiaomi and Microsoft have been working together for a while now.
The newest details of the project are the following images which Chinese media say are the first Live Photos of a prototype Xiaomi laptop.
Gizchina News of the week
It’s clear that some inspiration has been taken from Apple’s range of laptops, but there are a few of Xiaomi’s own touches too including the inclusion of vents in the base.
Another interesting design point is that it seems the camera for the Xiaomi laptop has been moved from the top of the screen to the bottom left hand corner. The keyboard and large trackpad follow on from the Apple styling.
Apparently the Xiaomi laptop will come in either 11 or 13 inch screens with a FHD resolution running an Intel Core i7 processor and at least 8GB RAM. The real shocker though is the pricing which is expected to be from just 1999 Yuan !
What do you make of these images, specs and pricing?
well, it can’t go under “small package” and it’s shipping will be little bit costier…
but, anyway, who would be crazy in US or EU to buy something like this with no warenty (or that you know if something happens to it, you have to send it back to China or where-ever)!?
there are nice products that you could buy for 300-400$ on that markets, and buying something like this is just too riskay.
and, buy the way…i read it won’t have touch screen, and thati it comes with “only” FHD screen resolution, so in that case, it’s nothing to write home about.
dude… this site is literally called gizchina lots of international buyers will flock to this, this website literally shows us phones that people are willing to buy online without these warranties thats the whole point, and dont be too vague with “nice products” we need simlar specs at this pricepoint as comparison
other options with an i7 and 8gb for $300? I don’t think so. definitely not from one of the big boys.
and the difference betwen i7 and i5 is how big!?
a litllebit before 1 year, for 600$ i have bought Lenovo Yoga 2 13, with i5, 8GB RAM and 256GB HDD.
small device with touchscreen, keyboard is backlit….so, all i needed.
and only processor is weaker then this one on Xiaomi, wich would cost me more or less similar to this. ( at least 550$, but i am shore with i7 would cost shipped to US or EU more then 650$ but let’s say minimal price is 550 = 400+ 25% tax and let’s say 50$ for shipping and if seller would take some…)
now, Yoga 3 costs around 750$.
and Yoga 700 (with same i7 like this one) is about 900$….
i would rather give 200 more for something, that comes with 2 years of warranty, but i see there is too many of Xiaomi fans and trolls here, that must say i am wrong.
so, for that 750$ there are so many devices witch i would take…even though they are comming with i5, wich can do everything.
so take a look at ASUS ZENBOOK UX305 witch costs around 700$ (100 more then this one would) with i5 or 250 more then Xiaomi with same i7 processor.
or DELL XPS 13 2015 (800$)….
you all are so shore that this device would be great just because you have read the spec, but let sasy not all xiaomi products are good (mi4i, mi5…) so will it be worth to buy it when you go to China, we will see, after reviews, and that is, notform the ones that are written on MIUI forum .
No offence, but trying to understand your grammar is giving me a headache. So, I’ll just briefly read it. You assumed too much. For once, I live in Asia. The grey importers here don’t really mark up high. So, lucky me. I don’t know about your bad experience with Xiaomi but the brand has proven itself to be rather capable despite your own “indept analysis”. With that said, I’ll still probably get this.
your problem, not mine…you grammar nazzi 😉
riiight.. “mr know it all”. haha
I buy $300-400 Chinese phones twice a year with nothing but the reseller warranty. It certainly won’t stop me from buying this.
There are other reputable brands like lenovo ideapad that selling at that marked up price ($450 – $500) with local warranty support. But maybe slightly lower processor i5.
Anything between $250 – $350 should be a good deal. But i will not hoping too much since we only can buy from china online re-seller and for new product normally china re-seller jack off the price very high.
Problem is Notebook is heavy and more fragile/risky to send so i don’t foresee the shipping fee will be as cheap as smartphone.
