MediaTek are best known for their affordable (and now, powerful) phone SoCs, but the Taiwanese fabricator also makes internals for tablets.
The MT6580 though, seems to be a bit of a multitasker. We’ve already seen some phones with the SoC, and here’s a tablet that comes with the same – the Sosoon C96.
For a tablet that costs under $100, the Sosoon C96 looks like a decent one. However, I wouldn’t say I’m a fan of the name.

Anyway, here’s what it comes with – a 9.6-inch 1280 x 800p IPS display, the aforementioned MediaTek MT6580 processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB ROM and an Android 5.1 installation.
That said, the highlight of the Sosoon C96 is its dual SIM tray, which gives you access to 2G and 3G networks (on GSM 900/1800/1900MHz and WCDMA 900/1800MHz bands).
It also comes with a couple of 2 mega-pixel cameras, one each on the front and back. The one on the back features autofocus, but like a lot other budget tablets, I’m sure you wouldn’t be writing home about this one.
A 4400mAh battery powers this tablet.
