Google Maps update allows WIFI mode and maps to be saved to SD

Google Maps users should prepare for a major update to the navigation app with two new major features coming.

The Google Maps update will bring a new WIFI only mode to phones meaning that once WIFI connections are lost the app reverts to offline maps then regains full features once a connection is established again.

As for offline maps, well the new update means you can not only download areas for offline use, but you can now save the to your SD card. This is much more convenient as it means internal storage is freed up.

Once the update comes to your phone head in to settings, where you can activate “WIFI Only”. If you haven’t already received the update watch out for it as it is rolling out as we speak.
