90,000 Redmi 3s Prime units sold in 8 minutes: Xiaomi India

Xiaomi’s newest release in the Indian market is the Redmi 3s, which comes in a ‘Prime’ flavour besides the regular version.

News is that 90,000 of those (Prime) were sold in less than 8 minutes. It was none other than Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain who revealed the news bit.

Xiaomi phones are known to sell out in a matter of seconds. However, it’s been a while since headlines like those made to the front page very often.

Gizchina News of the week

The Redmi 3s comes with a Snapdragon 430 processor, 2GB or 3GB RAM (Prime), and continues the tradition of large battery, as seen on the Redmi Note 3 as well. The version that sold 90,000 units according to Xiaomi was the Prime variant, which is the costlier of the two. The phone went on sale yesterday, via mi.com as well as Flipkart.

“We did a launch sale without registration for the first time ever, as we were confident that we had a significant volume with more than 90,000 units. However, I am extremely humbled and at the same time stumped by the incredible response we have got for Redmi 3S Prime,” said Manu, corresponding to BGR India.

No quite true this 8 minute spiel. One could buy right till 30 minutes past opening time. But 90k units even in 30 min is a feat for a phone costing 9k. Perhaps a complement to good package put in market by Xiaomi in 5inch screen space @below 10k.

Lucky for india as Xiaomi got factory there (if i can remember correctly) and price in india is very much cheaper than other country.

For other Asia country (ie:singapore) normally Xiaomi will open sale for less than 1 hour, then they will posted online with bombastic wording like “hey, we sold 100.000 units in 1 hour time… bla bla…blabla” and after that they will not have any stock for 1 year flat LFMAO that is lame !!!!! Especially for mainstream model like redmi note 3 pro.

In a way it is no use for potential buyers to know how many Xiaomi can sell in how many minutes. The most important thing is Xiaomi can provide enough stocks for their mainstream models on their online shop.
