Meizu today launched their new E series phone with the official name of the Meizu M3E and a price lower than originally expected.
In the run up to the Meizu M3E launch we had seen various leaks from what the handset might be packing under the hood to what the device would actually look like. Well some of those rumours were accurate and others not so.
What the Meizu M3E isn’t is a flagship beast with dual cameras, curved display and Samsung chipset, but what it is is a phone with the same design as the MX6 with lower specs and an affordable price tag.
Think of the M3E as a new Meizu Metal, only now it looks better finished and also comes in colour options including Blue, Rose Gold and Meizu’s trademark grey.
On the hardware front the M3E has a 5.5-inch display with 1920 x 1080 resolution offering a pixel density of 403ppi and 450nit brightness. Above the display is a 5 mega-pixel sensor with F2.0 aperture and FotoNation 2.0 software for enhancing selfies, and below is a fast fingerprint scanner.
Gizchina News of the week
The rear camera is a PDAF Sony IMX258 13 mega-pixel model with F2.2 aperture and dual LED flash.
Internally Meizu have stuck with Mediatek to offer the phone with a Helio P10 chipset, along with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory (and yes there is room for an SD card). A 3100mAh battery also finds its way in to the 7.9mm shell with fast charging function.
Flame comes on the Meizu M3E as standard, but is based on YunOS meaning plenty of Alibaba apps and functions will be pre-installed. Pricing in China is lower than expected at only 1299 Yuan ($195) but that’s only slightly cheaper than the more powerful, dual camera equipped Redmi Pro! And I know which I would choose.
The only problem is the Alibaba apps
