Just in: Xiaomi Mi Note 2 to launch 5th September

Xiaomi’s Redmi series may have been grabbing the headlines of late, but it’s the Mi series that happen to carry the real flagships. It’s been a while since the last Mi Note launched, and it might just be time for a refresh.

The Mi Note 2 has been in the rumours for a little while. If reports from China are to be believed, this smartphone is all set to launch as early as next month, on the 5th of September. This time around, Xiaomi seem to be in the mood for some experimentations.

The Mi Note 2 will, allegedly, come with a dual rear camera setup akin to the Redmi Pro. It’ll also feature a Samsung-style curved screen on either side, according to the reports. To top it off, this will be a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED 2K display, with another full HD variant.

That, with a Snapdragon 821 SoC, 6GB RAM, a 16 mega-pixel main camera (with the dual-camera version having 12 mega-pixel cameras on the rear). Other ‘goodies’ like HiFi audio, IR blaster, etc. are expected to be present as well, with all of it powered by a 4000mAh battery.

Moving on to the purported pricing, the 4GB RAM 1080p edition is expected to cost 2499 Yuan ($375), while the 6GB RAM 2K will be 2999 Yuan ($449) with the top-end 6GB RAM 2K curved screen edition getting a 3499 Yuan ($524) price tag.

If I were you, I’d take this with a pinch of salt and wait for 5th of September.

  I find after watching several phone comparison videos, the Chinese phones lack the technology to beat the Samsung Galaxy S7 series in low light photography, and optical image stabilization in recording videos. Mr. Lei Jun, will Xiaomi finally have a better camera than Samsung’s flagship phones?

Sweet! I’m in Beijing next month for a whole 3 weeks! Cant’ believe my luck. I almost bought the Mi Max 4GB online, but held-off due to the excessively large size. 5.7″ @ 2K is PERFECT.
Can’t wait to buy the 2K curved screen model, and I’m pretty sure I’ll find the right accessories in Beijing. (Screen guards for curved screen phones are usually awful).

Nice to see Xiaomi releasing something that looks nearly identical to a P9000 Edge – should sell well , but at $220 dearer than the 6g/128g Edge i’ll stick with the Ele thanks.

Slightly less squared corners for the Xiaomi , other than that same 2k 5.7″ screen , same duel cameras , same ram/rom – main diff is 821 vs X25 – 821 should be better but not $220 better.
But it’s an Ele so you guys like to joke about them – too bad I don’t buy into that as I am a happy owner of 4 of their products already , also have a Xiaomi and a few other brands – for the price the Ele’s are holding up well.

This was his 1st non Elephone topic and when he comments, he talks about an Elephone.         First of all, I’m not bullying anybody.
        I was only pointing you the main difference between the 2 phones and no, it’s not the SoC like you said nor the price.
        The MI Note 2 has not been launched yet, it will be at the beginning of September and it will be available for purchase a couple of weeks later like any other Xiaomi phone.
        Whatever we know now about the phone is a bunch of rumors or educated guesses.
        Different story is the Elephone.
        The one you mentioned was announced on a press conference back on January the 15th and the company said it was going to be “available soon”.
        7 months have been gone by and we haven’t seen this phone yet.
        I also asked you to show me the detailed specs sheet on purpose, because the truth is that not even Elephone provided it.
        We don’t know the price, we don’t know if it has OIS, laser focus, which bands will support, build quality, glass protection and so on.
        For some reasons you know that the only difference with the MI Note 2 is only the SoC.
        I’m glad you’re so confident about this phone. I hope you won’t get screwed like those few naive buyers that preordered the monstrous Vowney and then cancelled it because the phone never materialized.

Any chance that this will have North American LTE bands? I really want to jump onto the Chinese phone bandwagon. The Note 7 really disappointed me and I hope this will be the “real Note 7”
