Stable MIUI 8 ROM is now ready for download

miui

Xiaomi’s bread and butter has always been their smooth version of Android, MIUI. This custom ROM comes pre-installed on all of Xiaomi’s devices, with an existence preceding the very company that develops it.

MIUI has always been focused on providing casual users with simplicity and giving advanced users the tools to tweak and customize MIUI to their liking. Love it or hate it, it’s tough to argue that the ROM is by far one of the most prolific custom ROMs to come out of China.

Several years later, Xiaomi is now rolling out the 8th iteration of MIUI to many of their devices, and things seem to be better than ever. With more than 2 million global users, it may take a while for you to receive the update, so Xiaomi has also made it available on their website, making things way easier for some people.

Have mi4c tried miui for an hour flashed cm not for me. Personally it seems like a iOS based design and more focused at Asian customers. Have xiaomi hybrid ear phones and using miui they did not sound great so that was my biggest reason to ditch the ROM as my phone is used a lot for music. Miui is a bit like Marmite you either love or hate it!

It’s the best ROM and the reason most people buy Xiaomi phones.

Not for the Mi5, Redmi 3s and Redmi Pro? 😮

    • balcobomber25
      August 23, 2016

Could be because the Mi5 already received MIUI 8, the Redmi Pro shipped with MIUI 8 and the Redmi 3s is included with “Redmi”.

but for Redmi Note also it intends redmi note 3 pro ( snapdragon ?)

Having the Mi5 I can say that it is also very supported, running smooth as butter! 🙂 <3

Also… “Along with that, here are some of MIUI 8’s features, present”
    – And then just post some scrrenshots in chinese, doesnt add anything to the content. There are tons of sites and videos that explains the features, at least take the time to write a list.. I’m saying this in the most loving possible way. No offence.

None taken. I actually had a readable list prepared, but the website seems to have posted an earlier draft instead. I’m really sorry about this, I have no excuse for this shoddy stuff. I’ll get it edited as soon as possible.

SO Snapdragon 615 in Mi4i is too weak for MIUI 8? Congratulation Xiaomi. MIUI 8 should be a power hungry, unoptimized system again! Just like the MIUI 7. Nubclap for Hugo Barra!

    • balcobomber25
      August 23, 2016

Considering the Mi2/s is one here which uses an S4 Pro I doubt the 615 was too weak for MIUI 8. The 615 was a terrible all around chipset that Xiaomi should have never used but that is a different story for a different day.

I got my Mi5 Update yesterday. The China rom release is faster than the global ones.
It sucks that my old RN 3G is still on KK after the update.

That’s because of the MT6592 it uses. Mediatek stopped supporting it after Kit Kat.
