Although JiaYu haven’t been too active recently, their devices still receive plenty of love from the community as the JiaYu S3 Plus has just received a brand new Android Nougat update courtesy of the guys over at XDA.
The ROM is still in its early days, which means things are still pretty unstable and the ROM isn’t suitable for daily use, but the mere fact that something like this exists is incredible and is proof of how much people enjoy JiaYu’s devices.
The ROM is only for the JiaYu S3 Plus, the versions of the device running the MediaTek MTK6753 processor. There still doesn’t seem to be a version for the normal S3, but we expect it may appear soon. The maker of the ROM has been steadily fixing issues, so kudos to him/her.

A little suprised that it’s the plus version that gets it and not the original as I’m guessing most S3’s out there are the original version. I would hazard a guess that this may boost sales a little as there are people out there who’s primary concern is with having the latest OS above anything else. On a side note, I did order the original version twice and never received either of them, I guess I was never meant to have it!
One from AliExpress, gave fake tracking number but got my money back with no probs. The 2nd time was dhgate, seller was a scammer and took about 20 orders and never shipped any of them. Had a real fight to get money back though, vowed then never to use that site again.
I think the original S3 had the 6752 in it, didn’t it? As MediaTek never officially released the firmware for this, it is really hard to find updated ROMs for this SOC.
Never try Dhgate before so i cannot say anything. My advise is to only buy from reputable well known aliexpress seller. Checked from forum and google a bit to check also doesn’t hurt.
One of my favorite Aliexpress seller that so far (touch wood) never disappointed me is “Eternal Team”. They processed my order very fast and reach my home door normally around 14 – 21 days. Their price probably not the cheapest (different by only a couple bucks btw compare to other aliexpress shops) but quite trust-able seller to deal with.
The regular s3 may receive it soon, is particularly more hard according to the Devs Team, due to the MT6752 SoC have been deprecated, but it will come.
