The Yi camera is an immensely popular GoPro alternative. It’s been that way almost since the day it was launched in 2015; Yi followed it up with the Yi 4K earlier this year.
Now, the Chinese tech company have come up with yet another product that looks as compelling – the Yi Erida drone.
The Yi Erida is essentially a tri-copter designed in 100% carbon fiber casing. According to Yi Technology, the tricopter can do speeds of up to 75 km/h, which isn’t bad for a drone meant for filming.
A 4K camera (yes, the Yi 4K) will come as part of the drone package, which I think is a neat (and a very smart) addition.
What’s more, they’re also claiming a flight time of over 40 minutes… which could be a game changer. We should know more about this drone when the InterDrone conference kicks off in September.

Hmm 40 minutes is a lot for such small drone. Maybe due to 3 motor design. We need an independent tests
It isn’t small really, maybe the pictures are a little misleading. In the second picture you have a Yi 4K for reference, so yeah it’s not small.
Compared to professional drone that can lift couple of kgs
Drone is meant to compete with Dji Phantom, Yuneec Typhoon (probably) and the Mi drone ? Ironical
But its interesting that its a tricopter
