We heard rumors and leaks about Huawei’s brand new Nova devices, and now at IFA 2016 the company has gone ahead and unveiled them for everyone to see. Huawei’s new devices are the Huawei Nova and Huawei Nova Plus, two premium mid-range devices aimed squarely at devices like Samsung’s A-series.
The Huawei Nova
The Huawei Nova comes equipped with 5-inch display full HD (1920 x 1080) display, is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 and is also accompanied by 3GB RAM. It also comes with 32GB internal storage and supports MicroSD cards of up to 128GB.
The Huawei Nova’s battery is a decent 3020mAh unit, and with the efficient Snapdragon 625 chipset (14nm), it should last quite a while. The design is also rather interesting as it’s a clear nod to the Nexus 6P and that device’s black glass visor look.
Additionally, the Nova also features a 12MP rear camera with a an f/2.2 lens alongside an 8MP, f/2.0 front camera. And to top it all off, it also has a USB-C port on the bottom.

The Huawei Nova Plus
The Nova Plus on the other hand also carries the same Snapdragon 625 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, though it the display is a larger 5.5-inch full HD unit.
The Nova Plus’s main camera is also an improvement over the normal model as the larger devices comes with a 16MP rear sensor with optical image stabilization. Adding to that is the larger 3340mAh battery, which should help keep the larger display running.
The design of the Nova Plus is different from the standard model’s. While the standard Nova’s design mirrors that of the Nexus 6P, the Nova Plus seems to be fixed on the Huawei Mate 8 instead. Regardless, the device looks quite good and the specs are decent.
In terms of pricing, the Nova is priced at EUR 399 or about $444, while the Nova Plus goes for EUR 429 or $478. We assume that this won’t be the official price for other countries as Europe is known to have higher taxes, though we the devices will get many fans at this price point.
