The Berlin based technology convention IFA 2016 is really the center of the mobile world these days and most of the manufacturers are in attendance and flashing their new models. Of course UMI are no exception to the rule and we have already seen their presentation about the UMI Max.
But seems like they have another card in their sleeve and that should be brand new model UMI Plus. The official launch is scheduled for September 7th so the very last day of the convention. So is there something to look forward to at the very end of the show?
Gizchina News of the week
That’s pretty hard to estimate, because we have no idea about the exact specifications of the upcoming UMI Plus. But judging by some pictures of the phone in our mailbox, we can assume it’s not going to be a budget device, because the company is talking about it as a “flagship model”. On the other hand some previous leaked rumors hinted at a “mini” device coming from UMI, but that’s pure speculation. We have to wait for the September 7th and cross fingers for the new UMI Plus being something really special and appealing.
I knew it! I said that in the end of August or early September, we will see the UMi Super replacement! Well, here it is!
That’s what UMi does. New model every 3 months and the previous model still has bugs and problems unsolved… Good luck with this company.

They’re going the Elefraud way !
I guess this is an issue for most phone maker companies…. they just don’t care about “old models”
Old habits die hard. That’s why I still prefer Snapdragon powered ones, at least you can do something on making it right with aftermarket (costume) roms & still only if company releases the kernel source & model had enough popularity to attract developers…
Most phone companies release a product when it is 95-99% finished (ie. they don’t have a 1km long list of bugs still in correction or analysis stage). Some companies sell buggy phones and don’t correct bugs because their dev team is already prepping the next phone. This companies clearly don’t wanna spend to much on dev team as a strategy, and we’re talking about them.
Mitsos what saying guys at Umi launch a new phone before they have stabilized their latest model. It reminds me of Elephone.
Hello. I know this is not the correct location, but would like to know the opinion of you. What is the best Chinese smartphone to $ 150.00?
Add a couple bucks more & get a Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro (S650 version) base model (2/16GB) & if you go that way buy & a good tempered glas screen protector for it as that is a major flow for that particular model.
At least that is my preference for the time being.
If you don’t mind adding more money or just comparable to 3/32GB variant their is & LE Ecco Cool 1 which comes with S625 & base variant is 3/32GB costing 200$ (even hire at GizChina shop) & it even have dual Sony 13MP rare camera. On the other hand like all LE’s it comes without SD card support.
I still really can’t recommend this one as their is no good reviews of it anywhere yet.
The best possible phone for near that price mark is most definately the cheapest of the LeEco Le 2 phones that are 5.5″ of solid metal build with the Helio X20. Thats by far the best specs anbd build quality you are going to find. The only thing i hate is the little black bars on the sides of the screen but at the price they sell it you really cant argue for all the stuff they pack inside like the 3gigs ram and 32gigs ROM. After that if you go up a bit more to maybe 270 you can get the Redmi Pro which is basically the best phone you will find at that price or the Meizu MX6 with the Helio X20 that you can find on Geekbuying for about 290. The best build of them all i would say is the MX6 and i prefer the software [FLYME] but the Redmi Pro is right up there with it. I just prefer the look of the Meizu Mx6 6 more.
However if you dont mind a 6” phone then the Xiaomi Mi Max is the best thing you can buy for near 220 bucks. its a freakin bang for your buck and no other manufacturer comes close to it. I thought maybe the Meizu Max would but the went a put a helio p10 inside it and ruined any hope of competing because most 3d games will lag with that and its jsut not powerful enough especially with that size of phone. However maybe this UMI plus will be near 6″ and offer atleast a Helio X20 or X25 and then well have a fight because those will give the snapdragon 650/652 a run for their money in CPU but not so much in GPU area. But its more than enough to game out with the most intensive games lag free.
